Mr. H. C. Murphy gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to amend an act entitled "An act to provide for the supply of the city of Brooklyn with water," passed April 16, 1859.

Mr. H. C. Murphy gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to amend an act entitled "An act to authorize the laying of a double railroad track in the city of Brooklyn, county of Kings and the town of Newtown in the county of Queens," passed April 16th, 1860.

Mr. O'Donnell gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to incorporate the Lowville Waterworks Company.

Mr. Lent gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to authorize joint stock fire and marine insurance companies to increase their capital stock.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. La Bau asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to annul illegal proceedings of the board of supervisors of Richmond county, in violation of chapter 730 of the Laws of 1866, passed April 20 1866, entitled 'An act to repeal an act authorizing the town auditors of the towns of Castleton, Middletown and Southfield, in the county of Richmond, to have the streets in their respective towns lighted with gas,' passed April 6, 1855," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. T. Murphy asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to regulate the transportation of inflammable substances on railroads," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on railroads.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Low asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to facilitate the construction of the New York and Oswego Midland Railroad, and to exempt from taxation town and city bonds used in the construction thereof," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Low asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend the charter of the Germania Life Insurance Company," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on insurance.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Folger asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to confirm the title of Lewis J. Bazzoni and Daniel D. Lord, trustees, to a lot of land in the city of New York," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Folger asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to authorize Edward Cunard to take, hold and convey real estate," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Folger asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the Eclectic Association, in the city of New York,' passed March 13, 1861," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary..

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Kline asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to incorporate the village of Palatine Bridge, in the county of Montgomery," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

Mr. Collins offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That there be printed of the annual report of the Canal Commissioners, 500 copies for the use of the Commissioners, and 500 copies for the use of the Senate.

Ordered, That said resolution be referred to the committee on public printing.

Mr. Pierson offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the committees on judiciary, claims, finance, municipal affairs, railroads, internal affairs of towns and counties, commerce and navigation, engrossed bills, and canals, be each authorized to employ a clerk.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Low and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to supply the village of Middletown with water for public and private purposes," was read a third time.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to the final passage of said bill, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Senate voting in favor thereof, and three-fifths of said members being present, as follows:

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Assembly, and request their concurrence therein.

The hour of 12 o'clock having_arrived, the President announced that pursuant to the statutes of the United States made and provided, and agreeably to a resolution of the Senate heretofore adopted, the Senate would proceed to nominate a Senator to represent this State in the Senate of the United States, in the place of Hon. Ira Harris, whose term of office will expire on the 4th day of March next; when each Senator as his name was called by the Clerk, rose in his place and nominated as follows:

A quorum having voted, and a majority having named Roscoe Conkling as their choice, the President announced that Roscoe Conkling had been nominated on the part of the Senate, for Senator to represent this State for six years from the 4th day of March next, to fill the vacancy which will occur on that day by the expiration of the term of service of Ira Harris.

The Assembly returned the following entitled bill, with a message that they had concurred in the passage of the same, without amendment, to wit:

"An act to extend the time for the collection of the special bounty tax in the town of York, in the county of Livingston, and to authorize John W. Howe to collect the balance of said tax remaining uncollected, with interest thereon."

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Governor.
On motion of Mr. Lent, the Senate adjourned.

Mr. Barnett presented a petition of taxable inhabitants of the town of Harford, Cortland county, for authority to increase their town bonds in aid of the Southern Central Railroad; which was read and referred to the committee on railroads.

Mr Lent presented a petition of Children's Aid Society, for relief; which was read and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Andrews, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 819 of the Laws of 1866, entitled 'An act to incorporate the village of New Brighton,'" reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Lent, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to prevent fraud in the opening and laying out of streets and avenues in the city of New York,' passed April 22, 1862," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. White, from the committee on literature, to which was referred the petition of citizens of Syracuse, for the establishment of a high school, reported by bill entitled "An act to authorize the city of Syracuse to raise money for the establishment of a high school," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act in relation to wills,' passed April 23, 1864," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act for the relief of Patrick Horan and Michael Horan, of Exeter, in the county of Otsego and State of New York," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Folger, from the committee on the judiciary, to which was referred the petition of James Russell, for relief from an escheat, reported by bill entitled "An act to release the interest of the people of the State of New York in certain real estate, to Andrew Russell, William Russell, John Russell, Mary Craig Jeannette Russell and Jane Russell, and to enable them to hold and dispose of the same," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Humphrey, from the committee on public printing, to which was referred the resolution to print the annual report of the Canal Commissioners, reported in favor of the adoption of the following resolution:

Resolved, That there be printed of the annual report of the Canal Commissioners, 500 copies for the use of the Senate, and 500 for the use of the Commissioners.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

The President presented a report of the commissioners under act chapter 491, Laws of 1866, for the improvement of the Hudson River; which was laid on the table and ordered printed.

Mr Bennett gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to enable Freeman A. Baker to convey certain real estate, and for other purposes.

Mr. Crowley gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to amend the union school law of the city of Lockport.

Mr. Kline gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to amend the charter of the village of Johnstown.

Mr. White gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to establish and organize the Hudson River State Hospital for the Insane.

Mr. Lent gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to amend the charter of the Citizens' Savings Bank. Also, a bill to encourage telegraphic communication between the State of New York and the Empire of France.

Mr. Pierson gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill authorizing the re-paving and improving of Clinton st., from Fulton street to Second Place, in the city of Brooklyn, and for the assessment and collection of the cost thereof.

Mr. Williams gave notice that he would, at an early day, ask leave to introduce a bill to amend "An act to facilitate the construction of the Southern Central Railroad, and to authorize towns to subscribe to the capital stock thereof," passed April 7, 1866.

Resolved, That there be printed of the report of the commissioners for the improvement of the Hudson River, for 1867, 500 copies for the use of the commissioners, and 300 for the use of the Senate.
