Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act in relation to the Syracuse, Fayetteville and Manlius Railroad Company," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, which report was agreed to and said.bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. T. Murphy and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act for the relief of the rector, church wardens and vestrymen of Grace church, Harlem, in the city and county of New York," was recommitted to the committee on charitable and religious societies, with power to report complete.

Mr. Andrews offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That each Senator have the privilege of naming one bill to be placed on a special calendar, which shall have preference over other bills on general orders, in the order in which they stand on the calendar. The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Sutherland and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to regulate, grade and macadamise the Southern highway from the village of Westchester, in the towns of Westchester and West Farms," was recommitted to the committee on roads and bridges, with power to report complete.

Also, the following entitled Assembly bills, were recommitted to the committee on commerce and navigation, with power to report complete:

"An act in relation to the Mott Haven ferry, authorized by chapter 757 of the Laws of 1865, and to limit the capital thereof."

"An act to incorporate the Sing Sing Dry Dock Company."

Mr. White, from the committee on literature, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to provide for money to aid in the establishment of a Normal School in Brockport," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Gibson moved to take from the table the question of agreeing to the report of the judiciary committee, adverse to the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Planters' Loan and Relief Association of the city of New York."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to take from the table, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Gibson moved that said bill be recommitted to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Andrews moved to take from the table the question agreeing to the report of the committee on the judiciary adverse to the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Merchants' and Manufacturers' Loan and Trust Company."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to take from the table, and it was decided in the affirmative.

"An act to authorize the Baptist Church and Society in the town of Spafford, in the county of Onondaga, to sell certain church property."

On motion of Mr. Barnett and by unanimous. consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act renewing the charter of the Susquehanna Bridge Company of the village of Binghamton," was recommitted to the committee on roads and bridges, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Folger and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 61, Laws of 1856, entitled 'An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to provide for taking acknowledgments of deeds and other written instruments, by persons residing out of the State of New York,' passed March 28th, 1856,'" was recommitted to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Nicks and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the Steuben Agricultural Society to sell, lease, or convey the real estate belonging to said society," was recommitted to the committee on agriculture, with power to report complete.

Also, the bill entitled "An act to provide for taking testimony to be used in ceftain cases," was recommitted to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete

On motion of Mr. Parsons and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to facilitate the payment of taxes by railroad companies," was referred to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete.

Mr. Crowley offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That a respectful message be sent to His Excellency the Governor, requesting the return to the Senate of the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the German Mission House Association of the port of New York," for purpose of correction.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Humphrey, from the committee on roads and bridges, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to authorize the construction of a timber, plank or hard road from Salina, in the county of Onondaga, to Central Square, in the county of Oswego,' passed April 19, 1844," reported in favor of the passage of

the same.

On motion of Mr. White and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committee to report complete.

was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the building of a bridge at Clintonville, over the river Ausable, and directing the levy of a tax to pay for the same on Ausable, in Essex county," reported in favor of the passage of the same.

On motion of Mr. Platt and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended and said bill recommitted to the committee to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Sessions and by unanimous consent, the rules were were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act to authorize the erection of bridges in the town of Ellicott, and directing the levying of a tax to pay for the same," was recommitted to the committee on roads and bridges, with power to report complete.

The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

"An act to authorize the construction of enlarged locks upon the Erie canal, and to provide the means to pay the expense thereof."

Assembly, "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to revise and consolidate the general acts relating to public instruction,' passed May 2, 1864."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. O'Donnell, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of the first named bill, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. O'Donnell, from the same committee, reported progress on the last named bill, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

Mr. White moved that said last named bill, be made the special order Tuesday morning, immediately after third reading of bills.

. The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative, two-thirds of all the Senators present voting in favor thereof.

"An act to organize the Ulster County Agricultural Society into a stock company," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on agriculture.

"An act regulating the practice in the First Judicial district, as to holding special term at Chambers," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.
