On motion of Mr. Sessions and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to legalize the acts and proceedings of Aldis Spring, as justice of the peace of the town of Yorkshire, Cattaraugus county," was recommitted to the committee ou the judiciary, with power to report complete.

Mr. Andrews offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Senate hold a session this evening at 7 o'clock, for the consideration of general orders.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Williams and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to incorporate the village of Savannah, county of Wayne, State of New York," was recommitted to the committee on municipal affairs, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Sutherland and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to create a board of trustees for the town of Morrisania, in the county of Westchester, and to define their powers,' passed April 22, 1864, and as amended by chapter 911 of the Laws of 1866," was recommitted to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Folger and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the following entitled Assembly bills recommitted to the committee on the judiciary, with power to report complete:

"An act to incorporate the Ontario County Soldiers' Monument Association, and to raise money by tax to erect a monument."

"An act for the relief of the Dresden Evergreen Cemetery Association." Mr. E. Cornell, from the committee on banks, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act enabling National Banking Associations to become State Banking Associations, and to amend the Banking Laws of this State," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole. Mr. T. Murphy, from the committee on commerce and navigation, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act in relation to the the Mott Haven Ferry, authorized by chapter 757 of the Laws of 1865, and to limit the capital thereof," with power to report complete, reported the same complete, with amendments, which report was agreed to and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. E. Cornell, from the committee on banks, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the Institution for the Savings of Merchants' Clerks to accumulate a surplus," reported in favor` of the passage of the same, with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Lent and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committee with power to report complete.

Mr. O'Donnell, from the committee on insurance, to which was referred bill entitled "An act to amend the amended charter of the Hope Fire Insurance Company in the city of New York," reported in favor of the passage of the same, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.

On motion of Mr. Low, the Senate took a recess until 7 o'clock P. M.

"An act to authorize Peter Roe, an alien resident of the United States, to inherit by descent a proportionate share of the estate of Charles Shephard Roe, deceased, in the same manner as if he were a citizen," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

"An act for the relief of Gerrit Smith, Jonathan D. Ledyard and the legal representatives of Hamilton Murray, deceased," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on claims.

Mr. Low, from the committee on railroads, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to facilitate the construction of the Buffalo and Oil Creek Cross-cut railroad, and to authorize towns to subscribe to the capital stock thereof,' passed April 7, 1866, and to confirm bonds issued by authority of the provisions of said act," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, and said bill was committed to the committee of the whole.
