On motion of Mr. E. Cornell and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committee, with power to report complete.

Mr. Folger offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the committee of the whole be discharged from the further consideration of Assembly bill No. 414, entitled "An act to limit the hours of labor constituting a day's work in this State to eight hours," and that the same be ordered to a third reading.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Folger, from the committee of conference, submitted the following report:

The undersigned, the committee of conference, on the difference between the two Houses on the Assembly bill No. 337, entitled "An act to amend and consolidate the several acts relating to the preservation of moose, wild deer and fresh water fish," report that they have agreed upon the said bill as it passed the Senate, with the amendments proposed thereto in the Senate, but with the further amendment that there be added to the 14th section, the following words:

"But the counties of Kings, Queens and Suffolk, shall be excepted from the provisions of the above section so far as to allow the taking or catching of trout in the counties last named during the month of March." CHAS. J. FOLGER, M. K. PLATT,

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to the report of the committee of conference, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Senate voting in favor thereof, and three-fifths of said members being present, as follows:

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Assembly, with a mes sage informing that the Senate have agreed to the report of the committee of conference.

Mr. Parsons, from the committee on canals, to which was referred the Senate bill entitled "An act to enlarge locks upon the Erie canal," reported that they have inserted the amendment as directed by the Senate. Mr. Lent moved to lay said report on the table.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Crowley moved that the committee on the judiciary be discharged from the further consideration of the bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the city of Lockport,' passed April 11, 1865, relative to opening streets, and arrest of vagrants," and referred to the committee on municipal affairs.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Bennett, and by unanimous consent the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend the act

entitled 'An act to authorize the formation of railroad corporations, and to regulate the same,' passed April 2, 1850, in relation to reports of railroad corporations," was recommitted to the committee on railroads, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Sessions, and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to facilitate the construction of the Buffalo and Oil Creek Cross-cut railroad, and to authorize towns to subscribe to the capital stock thereof,' passed April 7, 1866, and to confirm bonds issued by authority of the provisions of said act," was recommitted to the committee on railroads, with power to report complete.

Mr. Sessions called for the consideration of the following resolution: Resolved, (if the Senate concur,) That the Comptroller require the payment of the loan authorized by chapter 296 of the Laws of 1840, within three months after notice; and in default thereof, that all requisite legal proceedings be resorted to for its collection.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Ordered, That the Clerk return said resolution to the Assembly, with a message informing that the Senate have concurred in the passage of the same, without amendment.

Mr. Humphrey, from the committee on roads and bridges, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to repeal an act to authorize the improvement of the Boston Post road running through Port Chester, in the town of Rye, and of the cross streets intersecting the same, and laying out and regulating of sidewalks and fences therein, passed April 10, 1865," reported in favor of the passage of the same.

On motion of Mr. Sutherland and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committec, with power to report complete.

Mr. Humphrey, from the committee on roads and bridges, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend chapter 255 of the Laws of 1857, entitled 'An act to provide for straightening. and working the highway leading from Losee's Corners to the village of Sing Sing, in the town of Ossining,' passed April 6, 1857," reported in favor of the passage of the same.

On motion of Mr. Sutherland and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committee, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Pierson and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the bill entitled "An act with reference to the inspection of steam boilers in the counties of New York and Kings," was recommitted to the committee on commerce and navigation, with power to report complete.

Mr. Low offered the following resolution:

Resolved, (if the Assembly concur,) That this Legislature adjourn sine die, on Friday the 19th inst., at 12 o'clock и.

Ordered, That said resolution be laid on the table.

On motion of Mr. Lent and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the following entitled Assembly bills, recommitted to the committee on municipal affairs, with power to report complete:

"An act for the erection and maintenance of public urinals in the city of New York."

"An act with reference to marshals and other attendants upon courts in the city of New York."

Mr. Lent, from the committee on municipal affairs, to which was

referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act in relation to the copying of certain records and papers in the office of the clerk of the city and county of New York, and increasing the compensation of the deputy and assistant clerks in said office," reported in favor of the passage of the same. On motion of Mr. Lent and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committee, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. H. C. Murphy and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act authorizing the board of supervisors of the county of Kings to raise money for the benefit of the fire department of the town of New Lots in said county of Kings," was recommitted to the committee on internal affairs of towns and counties, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. Collins and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the mayor, aldermen and commonalty of the city of Albany, to establish a uniform rate of wharfage in the port of Albany," was recommitted to the committee on commerce and navigation, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. O'Donnell and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to provide for building bridges and improving highways in the town of Rodman, Jefferson county, and authorizing tax to be levied on said town for that purpose," was recommitted to the committee on roads and bridges, with power to report complete.

The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of the special order, being the bill entitled as follows:

"An act in relation to quarantine in the port of New York, and to amend existing acts relative thereto."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Sessions, from said committee, reported progress on said bill, and asked and obtained leave to sit again.

Mr. Chambers moved that said bill be made the special order this evening, after the vote upon the "New York Central Railroad fare bill." The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative, two-thirds of all the Senators present voting in favor thereof..

Mr. T. Murphy, from the committee on public health and medical societies and colleges, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Jefferson Medical College of Watertown," reported in favor of the passage of the same.

On motion of Mr. O'Donnell and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committee, with power to report complete.

Mr. T. Murphy, from the committee on public health and medical societies and colleges, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the Long Island College Hospital of the city of Brooklyn,' passed March 6, 1858," reported in favor of the passage of the same.

On motion of Mr. Pierson, and by unanimous consent, the rule was suspended, and said bill recommitted to the committee with power to report complete.
