The Assembly returned the bill entitled "An act to confirm the appropriation and sale of certain stone, timber and materials on the Cattaraugus reservation, made by the Seneca Nation of Indians in council, for the purpose of constructing a bridge across the Cattaraugus creek at Versailles, on such reservation, under provisions of chapter 69 of the Laws of 1866," with a message that they had passed the same with the following amendment:

Add at the end of section 1: "and the county judge of the county of Cattaraugus is hereby authorized and required to determine the quantity and value of said materials taken, and which shall hereafter be taken by the said commissioners or their assigns."

Mr. Sessions moved that the Senate concur in said amendment.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to concur, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Senate voting in favor thereof, and three-fifths of said members being present, as follows:

Ordered, That the Clerk return said bill to the Assembly, with a message informing that the Senate have concurred in their amendment.

The Assembly returned the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Astoria and Hunter's Point Railroad Company," with a message that they had passed the same, with the following amendments:

Section 1, line 1, strike out the word "That." Same section, line 9, after the word "track" insert "to be operated with horse power." Same section, line 26, after "Hunter" insert "after obtaining their consent thereto."

Strike out the word "That" in all the remaining sections, in the first line thereof.

Section 3, line 2, strike out "consist of the sum of" and insert in lieu thereof the word "be." Line 3, strike out "two" and insert "one." Line 4, strike out "ten" and insert in lieu thereof the words one hundred."

Section 4, line 4, strike out "board of directors" and insert "stockholders of said company."

Section 5, lines 2 and 3, strike out " a majority" and insert "twothirds." Lines 11 and 12, strike out "seventy-five per cent of their expressed," and insert in lieu thereof "the par." Add at the end of the same section, the following: "but the amount so borrowed shall not exceed together with the stock actually subscribed and paid in the actual cost and equipment of said road."

Section 7, line 3, strike out “ one president and twelve" and insert in lieu thereof "thirteen." Lines 4 and 5, strike out "president and." Section 10, strike out down to and including the word "should" in line 13, and insert in lieu thereof the words "in case."

Strike out sections 11, 13 and 15, and change number of remaining sections to correspond.

Section 14, line 1, strike out " is hereby" and insert "shall not be." Line 2, strike out "to extend" and insert "law." And strike out in lines 2 and 3, "by a double or single track." Line 3, strike out "other" and insert in lieu thereof "of the." Strike out all of line 4, same section, after the word "avenue" and insert "above described." Line 5, same section, strike out "city after having previously" and insert in lieu thereof "until they have."

Add at the end of same section: "and said road shall be commenced within one year, and completed within two."

Mr. La Bau moved that the Senate concur in said amendments.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to concur, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Senate voting in favor thereof, as follows:

The Assembly returned the bill entitled "An act providing for the appointment of an additional number of notaries public in the city and county of New York," with a message that they had passed the same, with the following amendments:

Line 4, section 1, of engrossed bill, after the word "public" insert as follows: "and each Assembly district of the State other than the county of New York, two additional notaries public."

Add to the title the following words: "and in the several Assembly districts of this State."

Mr. Parsons moved that the Senate concur in said amendments.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to concur, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Senate voting in favor thereof, as follows:

Mr. Andrews gave notice that he would, at some early day, move to suspend so much of rule 28 as prohibits bills being read a third time on the same day they are ordered to a third reading.

On motion of Mr. E. Cornell and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to incorporate the Binghamton Savings Bank in the village of Binghamton, Broome county, New York," was recommitted to the committee on banks, with power to report complete.

On motion of Mr. O'Donnell and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and the Assembly bill entitled "An act to authorize the commissioners of highways to construct bridges in the town of Ellisburgh, county of Jefferson, and to levy tax for that purpose," was recommitted to the committee on roads and bridges, with power to report complete.

The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of the special order, being the Assembly bill entitled as follows:

"An act in relation to quarantine in the port of New York, and to amend existing acts relative thereto."

After some time spent therein, the President resumed the chair, and Mr. Barnett, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of said bill, with amendments.

Mr. H. C. Murphy moved to lay the question of agreeing to the report of the committee of the whole upon the table.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to lay on the table, and it was decided in the affirmative.

The Assembly returned the following entitled bills, with a message that they had concurred in the passage of the same, without amendment, to wit:
