DRIVEN FROM THE TEMPLE doves drove market driven One day, our Blessed Lord went into the temple to pray. The temple, you know, was the church. It was the house of God. It was the place of prayer. As Jesus was going into the temple, He saw, inside the door, a number of men buying and selling cows, sheep, and doves. They talked and shouted as if they were out on the street. They forgot that they were in God's house. When our Blessed Lord saw how they were acting, He was very angry. So He made a whip, and drove them out of the temple. He told them that they must not make a market-place of the house of God. Always think of this, boys and girls, whenever you go into a church. "Why, children, I think I have told you every story I know. Did I ever tell you about the great man who found America?" |
