BRIEF MEMORIAL OF ISABELLA EDGAR, WHO DIED OF CONSUMPTION, ON THE 11TH september, 1832. Aged 32 Years. EDITED BY THE REV. FREDERICK VERNON LOCKWOOD, A. M. "All thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great LONDON: JAMES NISBET AND CO., BERNERS STREET. MDCCCXXXIX. PREFACE. THE following short Memoir of a departed believer, poor in the world, but rich in faith, was placed in my hands in manuscript, by a friend, a few weeks ago. Upon reading it, I was much impressed, both with the Lord's abounding grace and mercy vouchsafed to the subject of it, and also with the very striking and affecting example it affords of the assurance of eternal salvation to which well grounded believers do attain. The subject of this record of mercy was assured that God had become her reconciled Father, that she was the child of his grace; that being firmly united to Christ nothing could separate her from his love; that he had entered into a covenant of salvation with her, and consequently would give her the victory over all her enemies, and at last bring her to his everlasting glory, as an heir of God and a joint heir with Christ. |
