The following are amongst the distinctive features of the Company :

I. Entire freedom of the Assured from responsibility, and exemption from the mutual liabilities of partnership.

II. Payment of Claims guaranteed by a Capital of ONE MILLION.

III. STAMPS on LIFE POLICIES, are paid by the Company.

In the Life Department.-1. FOUR-FIFTHS OF THE PROFITS divisible by the Company's Deed of Settlement allowed to Assurers.

2. All Assurances are effected on Participating and Non-Participating Tables, on Ascending and Descending Scales, for short periods, and by Policies payable at the ages of 65, 60, 55, or 50, or previously in the event of Death.

3. Premiums may be paid Annually, Half-Yearly, or Quarterly, in a limited number of Payments, in one Sum, or on Increasing or Decreasing Scales.

4. Policies on the Participating Scale immediately interested in the Profits of the Company.

5. The Age of the Assured admitted, on satisfactory evidence being presented.

6. Policies assigned as security not forfeited by Duelling, Suicide, or the Execution of Judicial Sentences.

In the Fire Department.-Houses, Furniture, Stock-in-Trade, Mills, Merchandise, Shipping in Docks, Rent, and Risk of all descriptions, Insured at moderate Rates.

Loans from £100 to £1000 Advanced on Personal Security, and the Deposit of a Life Policy to be effected by the Borrower.

The Proprietors of the ARGYLL GENERAL MOURNING WAREHOUSE respect invite the attention of Ladies and the Public generally to the Che-Kiang Silk, a Chinese ma facture of peculiar richness and durability. The superior quality of the silk of China over that any other country is a fact known to all; it therefore is only necessary to mention a few of t characteristics of the Che-Kiang Silk not obtained in the manufactures previously introdu Firstly, the perfect blackness of dye; this alone proves the superior quality of the fabric. Second the ingenuity displayed in weaving, the threads being so united as not in any way to cut e other, a fault so much observed in the goods hitherto introduced; and, thirdly, it possesses richness and elasticity of touch which prevents it from becoming crushed in wear, or in any damaged by pressure. These qualities the Proprietors feel confident will of themselves be suffici to ensure its speedy and extensive patronage without further comment, and only desire to add they have negotiated to receive all deliveries of this article into England for a period not less t two years; consequently, it will be only from or through them that it can at present be obtaine
