'An act to secure the better application of funds for the relief of the poor in the town of Herkimer in the county of Herkimer,' in relation to compensation of overseer of the poor," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

Also, a bill (No. 252, Rec. No. 19) entitled "An act to amend the Military Law, in relation to paying back to the State treasury certain moneys standing to the credit of military organizations disbanded pursuant to law; in relation to compensation to employees in certain armories; and in relation to emergency expenditures in armories," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on military affairs.

Also, a bill (No. 243, Rec. No. 20) entitled "An act to legalize the acts and proceedings of the board of supervisors of the county of Yates, in relation to the salary and expenses of the present incumbent as county superintendent of highways in such county, which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

My dear Mr. Walker: On the evening of Wednesday, the eighteenth instant, there will be exhibited in Chancellor's Hall, at 8:30 o'clock, under the auspices of the Albany Chamber of Commerce, a moving picture of the improved canal system, which was recently completed under my supervision.

The Barge Canal Conference convenes at Albany on that date and waterway adherents from throughout the State are expected to attend the Conference in large numbers. I have extended an invitation to the members of the Conference to witness the picture and I believe the time is a splendid one to acquaint the members. of the Senate with the waterway on which such vast sums have been spent and for which additional appropriation will, no doubt, be sought in the future.

I, therefore, cordially invite you and the members of the Senate to the exhibition and I will greatly appreciate your courtesy in transmitting this invitation to the Senate.

The Senate bill (No. 476, Int. No. 465) entitled "An act to provide for the acquisition by the State of certain real property in the city of New York, and making an appropriation therefor,' was read the third time.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to the final passage of said bill, the necessity for the immediate passage of the same having been certified by the Governor, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the Senators elected voting in favor thereof, and three-fifths being present, as follows:

Mr. Brown offered a resolution, in the words following:

Resolved, That the Clerk cause to be printed five hundred additional copies of each of the Senate bills, printed numbers 235 and 236, respectively, relating to a milk pasteurization plant in New York city and to the creation of a State milk commission.

Mr. G. L. Thompson moved that the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways be discharged from the consideration of Assembly bill (No. 341, Rec. No. 16) entitled "An act to amend the Town Law, in relation to the compensation of town officers in certain towns."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. G. L. Thompson, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 217, Int. No. 215), now on the order of third reading.

Mr. Davenport moved that the committee on affairs of cities be discharged from the consideration of Senate bill (No. 84, Int. No. 84) entitled "An act to provide for extending the boundaries of the city of Utica by annexing thereto a part of the town of New Hartford, by vote of the territory proposed to be annexed, and to provide for the government of the annexed territory, and for the payment of school and sewer district bonded indebtedness, "and that the said bill be amended, the title being amended to read as follows:

"An act to provide for extending the boundaries of the city of Utica by annexing thereto a part of the town of New Hartford, by vote of the electors of the territory proposed to be annexed, and to provide for the government of the annexed territory, and for the payment of school and sewer district bonded indebtedness."

and that said bill be reprinted and recommitted to the committee on affairs of cities.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Walton moved that the committee on finance be discharged from the consideration of Senate bill (No. 155, Int. No. 155) entitled "An act to amend the Highway Law, in relation to State. aid for the construction or improvement of highways or roads by a county other than county highways," and that the said bill be referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.
