The Assembly bill (No. 341, Rec. No. 16) entitled "An act to amend the Town Law, in relation to the compensation of town officers in certain towns," was read the third time.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to the final passage of said bill, the same having been printed and upon the desks of the members in its final form for three calendar legislative days, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the Senators elected voting in favor thereof, and three-fifths being present, as follows:

The Senate bill (No. 281, Int. No. 277) entitled "An act to amend the Prison Law, in relation to employees of prisons," was read the third time. ·

The Assembly bill (No. 382, Rec. No. 22) entitled "An act to amend the General City Law, in relation to appropriations for pension funds," was read the third time.

The Assembly bill (No. 282, Rec. No. 13) entitled "An act to amend the Town Law, in relation to the terms of office of certain officers on changing date of town meeting," having been announced for third reading, Mr. G. F. Thompson moved that said bill be recommitted to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways with instructions to said committee to amend and report the same forthwith to be reprinted as amended and restored to its place in the order of third reading. The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Hewitt, from the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways, reported said bill amended as directed, and the same was ordered reprinted and placed on the order of third reading.

Mr. Burling moved that the committee of the whole be discharged from the consideration of Senate bill (No. 419, Int. No. 187) entitled "An act to amend chapter one hundred and eightytwo of the Laws of eighteen hundred and ninety-two, in relation to the salary of the police commissioner of the city of Mount

Vernon," and that the said bill be amended, reprinted and recommitted to the committee of the whole.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Towner moved that the committee on affairs of cities be discharged from the consideration of Assembly bill (No. 88, Rec. No. 4) entitled "An act to amend the charter of the city of Hudson, in relation to increasing the salaries of the chief of police, sergeant and police officers in the said city."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Towner, and by unanimous consent, said bill was substituted for Senate bill (No. 55, Int. No. 55), now in the order of third reading

Mr. G. L. Thompson moved that the committee of the whole be discharged from the consideration of Senate bill (No. 232, Int. No. 230) entitled "An act to amend chapter one hundred and thirty-one of the Laws of nineteen hundred and two, entitled 'An act to make the office of sheriff of Suffolk county a salaried office in part and to regulate the management thereof,' in relation to the salaries of certain officers," and that the said bill be amended. reprinted and recommitted to the committee of the whole.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. G. F. Thompson offered a resolution, in the words following:

Resolved, That the committee on public service be authorized to investigate the extraordinary term of the Supreme Court sitting in New York together with the action of the grand jury, the foreman, the court and the district attorney.

That said committee be authorized to issue subpoenas and compel the attendance of witnesses.

Mr. G. F. Thompson moved that consideration of said resolution be postponed for one week.

Thompson moved to take from the table the resolution introduced by him on February 11, 1920, requesting the committees on finance and ways and means to investigate and report to the Legislature matters and measures pertaining to the welfare of soldiers, sailors and marines in the service of the United States during the World War.

Also, a resolution by Mr. G. L. Thompson relative to printing additional copies of Hon. Theodore Roosevelt memorial, with a message that they have concurred in the passage of the same.

Mr. Dodge gave notice that at some future time he will move to suspend Senate Rules numbered 1, 4, 8, 11, 14, 16, 18, 22, 30, and 44, for the purpose of reading, passing and transmitting to the Assembly out of its regular order the Senate bill (Int. No. 430, Printed No. 457), entitled "An act making an appropriation for equipping the Fifteeenth Infanty Regiment, New York Guard, with needed clothing."

Mr. Dodge also gave notice that at some future time he will move to suspend Senate Rules numbered 1, 4, 8, 11, 14, 16, 18, 22, 30, and 44, for the purpose of reading, passing and transmitting to the Assembly out of its regular order the Senate bill (Int. No. 173, Printed No. 375), entitled "An act to amend the Greater New York charter, in relation to salaries of the officers and members of the uniformed police force of such city."

Mr. Dodge gave notice that at some future time he will move to suspend Senate Rules numbered 1, 4, 8, 11, 14, 16, 18, 22, 30, and 44, for the purpose of reading, passing and transmitting to the Assembly out of its regular order the Senate bill (Int. No. 174, Printed No. 378), entitled "An act to amend the Greater New York charter, in relation to salaries of officers and members of the uniformed force of the fire department of such city."

The Assembly returned the Senate bill (No. 476, Int. No. 465) entitled "An act to provide for the acquisition by the State of certain real property in the city of New York, and making an appropriation therefor," with a message that they have concurred in the passage of the same.

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Governor.
Mr. Walters moved that the Senate do now adjourn.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative. Whereupon, the Senate adjourned.

Mr. Baumes introduced a bill (Int. No. 512) entitled "An act making an appropriation for the Hamilton-Odell library at Monticello," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

Also, a bill (Int. No. 513) entitled "An act to amend the County Law, in relation to payment to district attorneys of any sum of money expended or incurred by them in the performance of their duties as such," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.
