Mr. Sage moved that the Senate do now adjourn.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative. Whereupon, the Senate adjourned.

Mr. Brown introduced a bill (Int. No. 147) entitled "An act to amend the County Law, in relation to the salary of the surrogate of the county of Otsego," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

Mr. Gibbs introduced a bill (Int. No. 148) entitled "An act to amend the Tax Law, in relation to the assessment and taxation of trust companies" which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on taxation and retrenchment.

Also, a bill (Int. No. 149) entitled "An act to provide for paying members of the National Guard, who served without the State in response to the call of the President of June nineteenth, nineteen hundred and sixteen, the compensation for services in the State less the amount allowed by the Federal government, making an appropriation and establishing a special fund therefor," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Hewitt introduced a bill (Int. No. 150) entitled "An act to amend the Highway Law, in relation to fee for renewal of operator's license," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Sage, and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and said bill ordered to a third reading and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

Mr. Knight introduced a bill (Int. No. 151) entitled "An act to amend the Tax Law, in relation to complaints concerning special franchise assessments by the State Tax Commission," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on taxation and retrenchment.

Mr. Marshall introduced a bill (Int. No. 152) entitled "Am act for the relief of the town of Fine, in the county of Saint Lawrence," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

Also, a bill (Int. No. 153) entitled "An act to amend the Highway Law, in relation to the establishment of a new State route, extending from Long lake, in the county of Hamilton, to Saranac lake, in the counties of Franklin and Essex, and to Saranac Junetion," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

Also, a bill (Int. No. 154) entitled "An act to amend the Conservation Law, in relation to the taking and possession of deer,' which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on conservation.

Mr. Lowman introduced a bill (Int. No. 155) entitled "An act to amend the Highway Law, in relation to State aid for the construction or improvement of highways or roads by a county other than county highways," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance.

Mr. Sage introduced a bill (Int. No. 156) entitled "An act to amend chapter eight hundred and eighty-two of the Laws of eighteen hundred and sixty-nine, entitled 'An act to incorporate the village of Green Island, and for other purposes,' in relation to annual village elections, and the appointment and compensation

of election officers," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time.

On motion of Mr. Sage, and by unanimous consent, the rules were suspended, and said bill ordered to a third reading.

Mr. Sage moved that the Senate do now adjourn until 10 A. M. Friday.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 1920

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.

No. 157) entitled "An act to amend chapter five hundred and nineteen of the Laws of nineteen hundred and nine, entitled 'An act in relation to certain deputy sheriffs in the county of Albany,' "" which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on internal affairs of towns, counties and public highways.

Also, a bill (Int. No. 158) entitled "An act to amend the Education Law, in relation to the bonded indebtedness of school districts," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on public education.

Mr. Sage moved that the Senate do now adjourn until 8:30 A. M., Monday, January 26th.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

No. 159) entitled "Concurrent Resolution of the Senate and Assembly proposing an amendment to section one of article twelve and sections twenty-six and twentyseven of article three of the Constitution to enable the Legislature to give greater control over local affairs to cities and counties,' which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

No. 160) entitled "An act to confer jurisdiction upon the Court of Claims to hear, audit and determine the alleged claim of the personal representatives of Patrick Walsh, deceased, against the State for damages alleged to have been sustained by him and to render judgment therefor,' which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.
