On motion of Mr. Alvord and by unanimous consent, Assembly bill (introductory number 1), " An act explanatory of the act entitled An act to amend title 3, chapter 4 of part 2 of the Revised Statutes, entitled Of the interest of money,' passed June 20, 1879,"" was ordered printed.

Mr. Wiley offered for the consideration of the House a resolution. in the words following:

Whereas, The price for nearly all of life's necessities has very materially advanced beyond the ratio of wages paid the mechanics and laborers heretofore and again to be employed upon the new capitol; and,

Whereas, At least one-half of those so employed have families depending upon them for support; and,

Whereas, It has become almost an utter impossibility for these said mechanics and laborers to supply the ordinary comforts of life to any reasonable degree for themselves and families with the wages heretofore paid; Therefore, be it

Resolved, That this body (if the Senate concur) do hereby recommend that the Hon. Commissioners having this work in charge shall advance on and after the first of February next, the wages of all employees under them at such ratio as they may regard for the best interests of, and relief of said employees.

Said resolution being concurrent,

Ordered, That the same be laid upon the table.
