September 15. A child playing upon a pile of sand in Greene street, near Prince, fell, and the wheel of car No. 8 passed over its hand; no blame attached to driver. October 27. Car No. 71, in coming through Church street, near Park place, a newsboy who was running alonside the car fell from the sidewalk; the car passed over his legs. November 19. Car No. 56, in going down University place, near Twelfth street, a lady in attempting to get off fell, and was dragged some distance; she received some slight injuries. 1870. February 12. Car No. 54, in leaving Broome street at Broadway, a newsboy standing on the front platform, in getting off while the car was in motion, slipped and fell, the wheel passing over him; his name was George Egan; he died from the injuries received. The coroner's jury exonerated the company from all blame. April 8. Joseph Davis, a passenger, while standing upon the front platform of car No. 104, in turning the curve at the corner of Macdougal and Eighth streets, was thrown from the platform, receiving some slight injuries about the head and arms. May 8. Car No. 26. A man, under the influence of liquor, was thrown from the front platform, in Church, between Lispenard and Canal streets; he received some slight injuries. June 8. Car No. 135, in coming up, 4:59 trip, between Twenty-eighth and Twenty-ninth streets, a boy, while sitting inside the car, got up and went out upon the front platform, and stepped off without notifying the driver; slightly injured. August 30. A lady, in getting off car No. 110, Seventh avenue, fell; she was not injured. September 5. A boy named Shorthouse ran into the car at rear platform, passed through the car and jumped from the car; the wheel passed over his foot. No blame to driver.
