By Mr. Gallugi of Wakefield, petition of Anthony Michael Gallugi and Peter A. Velis for an investigation by a special commission (including members of the General Court) relative to the pricing and marketing procedures of grocery store chains in the Commonwealth. Commerce and Labor.

THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS

In the Year One Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventy-Four

Resolve providing for an investigation and study by a special commission relative to the pricing and marketing procedures of grocery store chains in the Commonwealth

Resolved, That a special commission, to consist of three members of the senate, five members of the house of representatives, and two persons to be appointed by the governor, is hereby established for the purpose of making an investigation and study relative to the pricing and marketing procedures of grocery store chains in the commonwealth required by the federal trade commission and the possible violation of consumer protection laws. Said commission shall, in the course of its investigation and study, consider possible remedies to relieve the burden of the high cost of food for the consumers of the commonwealth.
