Mr. Bird presented two petitions of citizens of Erie and Chautauque counties, for an act to authorise the removal of a bridge over Cattaraugus creek, which were read and referred to a select committee consisting of the Erie and Chautauque delegations.

Mr. H. Harris presented the remonstrance of citizens of Albany against the insurance bill, which was read and laid on the table.

Mr. Anthon presented the petition of Theodore de Vareigné, for an act authorising him to hold and convey real estate, which was read and referred to the committee on the petitions of aliens.

Mr. Le Roy presented two petitions of inhabitants of Onondaga co., for the enlargement of the Oswego canal, which were read and referred to the committee on canals.

Mr. Swords presented the petition of Dr. Turner, of New-York, that the use of the lancet may be made penal, which was read and referred to the committee on medical colleges and societies.

Mr. O. Allen presented the petition of the trustees of Buffalo College of St. Joseph, for an appropriation, which was read and referred to the committee on colleges, academies and common schools.

Mr. J. Benedict presented the petition of J. Palmer and 200 others, for authority to fill up the old canal in the village of Oriskany, which was read and referred to the committee on canals.

Mr. Cady presented the petition of Leah Morris, for power to sell certain real estate, which was read and referred to a select committee of three..

Mr. Cady presented the petition of owners of property in Williamsburgh, for the widening of South Seventh and South Sixth st., which was read and referred to the select committee on that subject.

Mr. Lyon presented the petition of citizens of Brooklyn, against the repeal of any law against the education of children in orphan asyluins, which was, read and referred to the committee on colleges, academies and common schools.

Mr. Ryan presented three petitions of many inhabitants of NewYork, to grant Colyer and Dugard permission to erect a steam saw mill within the fire limits of New-York, which were read referred to a select committee consisting of the New-York delegation.

Mr. E. Perry presented the petition of citizens of Watervliet, for a law regulating the hours of labor, which was read and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Underwood presented seven petitions of inhabitants of Sterling, Cayuga co., for a law allowing said town to loan its credit to the stock of a railroad from Little Sodus bay, passing through Auburn, to some point on the Cayuga and Susquehanna railroad, which were read and referred to a select committee consisting of the Cayuga co. delegation.

Mr. O. Allen presented the petition of citizens of Western NewYork, for an appropriation to the University of Rochester, which was read and referred to the committee of the, whole.

Mr. Wakeman arose to a question of privilege and stated that
