Thursday, May 29th, 1890, 10.30 A. M., in Salem Church, Divine Service with Synodical Communion.

At 7.30 P. M., Rev. J. Zentner delivered an address in German, and Rev. A. P. Pflueger one in English, on the subject of Christian Education. Rev. E. A. F. Hannemann conducted the Devotional Services.

At 7.30 P. M., in St. Peter's Church, South Bethlehem, (Rev. W. F. Schoener, Pastor,) Revs. F. P. Mayser and G. W. Sandt delivered addresses on the same topic, the former in the German and the latter in the English language. The Devotional Services were led by Revs. W. A. C. Mueller and A. C. Wuchter.

Friday, May 30th, 7.30 P. M., in Salem Church, Rev. F. P. Bender delivered an address in German, and Rev. S. A. Ziegenfuss one in English, on the general theme, Christian Missions. Rev. O. F. Waage conducted the Devotional Services.

At 7.30 P.M., in St. Peter's Church, Revs. W. J. Mann, D.D., LL.D. and J. D. Schindel spoke on Mission subjects, the former in the German and the latter in the English language. The opening and closing services were under the direction of Revs. I. W. Gauker and L. J. Bickel.

Saturday, May 31st, 7.30 P. M., meeting in Grace Church (Rev. C. H. Hemsath, Pastor,) in the interest of the Orphans' Home, etc., etc., at Germantown. Rev. F. Wischan made a German address and Mr. Henry Lehman an address in English. The other services were conducted by Revs. F. A. Muhlenberg, D. D., LL. D., and J. L. Sibole.

Sunday, June 1st, 10.30 A. M., in Salem Church, Rev. A. Spaeth, D. D., preached in German from Acts 6: 1-7. The Rev. F. W. Weiskotten presided at the altar.

At 2 P. M. the Sunday Schools of Grace and Trinity (Rev. W. D. C. Keiter, Pastor,) assembled with that of Salem Church, in the spacious and handsome auditorium of the latter, and a festal service, according to a printed programme, was celebrated. Addresses were delivered by Revs. A. P. Pflueger, F. W. Weiskotten, S. E. Ochsenford, J. L. Sibole, J. H. Kuder and Wm. A. Sadtler. At 7.30 P. M., Rev. M. C. Horine preached from I John 3: 1, 2. Rev. Frank F. Fry officiated at the altar.

Tuesday, June 3rd, 7.30 P. M., Ordination Service. Rev. H. E. Jacobs, D. D., preached from I Tim. 4: 14. Nine young men were then solemnly set aside to the office of the Holy Ministry by the President of the Synod and his associate officers.

At 10.30 A. M., Thursday before Trinity Sunday, May 29th, 1890, "The Evangelical Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania and Adjacent States" assembled in its 143d Annual Convention, in the Evangelical Lutheran Salem Church, Bethlehem, Pa., pastoral charge of Rev. Enoch Smith.

Services preparatory to the celebration of the Holy Communion were held in the lecture room of the Church, the President of the Synod officiating. Immediately thereafter, and in the usual order, the members of the Synod present, repaired to the auditorium of the Church, where, after the regular opening services, the Synodical Sermon was preached by the President, Rev. G. F. Krotel, D. D., LL. D., from Phil. 2: 19-23. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was then administered. One hundred and ninety-one persons communed.

II. Synodical Sessions.

FIRST SESSION.

THURSDAY, MAY 29, 1890, 2.30 P. M.

According to the formula of the Church, Synod was opened by the President. The roll of Ministers, and of the names of Parishes or Charges, was called. Delegates who had not previously sent, now handed in their credentials and were enrolled. There were present at the opening session of the Ministerium 178 Ministers and 83 Lay Delegates.

The membership of the Synod at present is 269. In the roll which follows, the post-office address of each member is given, and the name or names of those who with him represent his Parish. Absence with excuse is marked e; without excuse received, a. The names of vacant Charges and of their delegates are specified.
