AND ALL LUNG DISEASES.

By G. T. CONGREVE, Coombe Lodge, Peckham.

The Nature, Progress, and True Treatment of this Scourge of England, with 133 Selected Cases,

The following are from the TENTH SERIES of CASES:

PHTHISIS-CASE of MR. ROBERT BURNET, Agent of the NATIONAL BIBLE SOCIETY of SCOTLAND, 5, St. Andrew's Square, EDINBURGH.

This case was referred to in the Christian Herald of March 5, as one "raised from the gates of death."

The patient visited Coombe Lodge on the 15th of last May. Consumption in the family, the mother having died of phthisis. Had been five years in China. Had pneumonia first, four years ago; had pleurisy since, followed by signs of consumption, which became developed so far that on examination he was found to have the " the lungs diseased, and congestion at the base of each."

Advised not to leave off the medicine or use of prescribed liniment until thoroughly well, especially as winter was approaching. Wisely he continued up to the commencement of the year, gradually diminishing the dose.

In February I saw him again in London, and found him perfectly well.
Being about to return to China, he wrote the following letter:-

"DEAR SIR,-Considering the great change that has taken place since I began to use your 'Elixir,' I cannot leave this country without bearing testimony to its good effects. I feel as one who has been raised up from the gates of death, and have cause to bless God, who led me to you for advice and cure.

"What a difference between my prospects when I landed in London, in May, 1883, and my prospects now! Then, compelled to leave my field of labour, with the sentence of death in me; and now in good health, returning to my missionary work in China. "Still more, I am glad to say that after being examined by medical men in Edinburgh, they stated that now there was no disease, and certified my fitness for resuming work in a foreign land.

"Earnestly hoping that the above testimony will lead many sufferers to you for relief,-I am, ever yours gratefully, "ROBERT BURNET."

CASE REPORTED by DR. K

L.R.C.P.

An eminent physician. writing to Mr. C. for a friendly consultation on his own case, speaks of an extraordinary case coming within his knowledge, and says: "Had I been free you should have used my name. The patient had been dreadfully ill with cough, debility, and loss of flesh, going.on gradually for twelve months. His paroxysms were terrible, with spitting of much muco-purulent matter, and followed by extreme prostration. He took your medicine for ten weeks; his attenuated frame gained 9 lbs. ; his appetite returned in full; sleep was sound and refreshing. His cough and expectoration were instantly relieved; in fact it acted like a charm. There is no disputing the case."

Note.-Mr. Congreve's Son-in-law, J. Alex. Brown, M.R.C.S., is now associated with him.
