house. Among the residents there we have four members and one probationer.

Along the Atlantic coast southward we have been urged to explore and establish a circuit. We have a list of one hundred and twenty-four names of men, without counting the women and children, who could be visited by one man. Within that range there is one place where a few brethren keep up a weekly prayermeeting.

SALTO remains unoccupied, as we have been disappointed in the man whom we expected to send there.

We very much need a German traveling preacher, acquainted with our system of doctrine and usage, for the benefit of our German work in the provinces.

Our Church school in this city is continued.

There are now

eighty pupils in attendance. It cannot extend in numbers or value much until we have a school-house.

ANNUAL REPORT.

The Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Maclay, makes the following annual report:

The past year is the most successful one we have ever had in this mission. In every department of our work there has been decided and healthy progress, and in every department where enlargement was desired there has been expansion.

Comparing the statistics with those of the previous year, I note increase in the following items: Missionaries, increase two; assistant missionaries, increase two; native assistants, increase five; making an increase of nine in the agents of the Society. In the baptisms there has been an increase of nineteen; and it should be observed that in the baptisms of the past year, sixty-four were adults and eight were children, whereas in the baptisms of the previous year only thirty were adults and twenty-three were children. In church members, the net increase is fifty-five; probationers, increase thirty-six; baptized children, increase three; making a total increase of ninety-four in the three items just enumerated. The missionary contributions amount to $84, being an increase of $20 65 over the previous year; the Centenary offerings amount to $79 45, and the collections for the poor amount to
