the Fine Arts, vice-president of the Art Club of Philadelphia in 1898 and 1899, a director of the Union League of Philadelphia in 1900-1901, and a member of the board of trustees of the Fairmount Park Art Association. He was at one time president of the Hayes Mechanics' Home and of the Hahnemann Hospital. He married Miss Emma Bolton. He died at his home in Philadelphia January 16, 1917. He was a member of the Society since 1909. HENRY STACKHOUSE WILLIAMSON Henry Stackhouse Williamson was born near Morrisville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, February 27, 1853. He was the son of Jesse and Elizabeth Albertson Williamson. After early employment in Wilmington, Delaware, he came to Lancaster in 1876 and opened a department store in partnership with J. R. Foster. Mr. Williamson was actively interested in many important undertakings and movements in Lancaster. He was one of the organizers and the first president of the Chamber of Commerce. He was president of the Benner Manufacturing Co., a director of the People's Trust Co., the People's National Bank, the Lancaster County Fair Association, Hamilton Watch Co. He was a trustee of Franklin and Marshall College, of the Thaddeus Stevens Industrial School, Millersville State Normal School, Shippen School for Girls, Witmer Home for Old Ladies, Home for Friendless Children. He was deeply interested in schools and playgrounds. He married Miss Clara T. Brown in 1889. He died at his home in Lancaster, May 20, 1917. He was elected a member of the Society in 1904. Mr. Williamson made many public and private gifts for charitable and public purposes during his life time. Williamson Park in Lancaster is a splendid monument to his liberality.
