Rev. Dr. J. Leonard Levy Memorial. Residence for his widow, the gift of a group of friends, June 15. The house had been planned for Dr. Levy's own use before his death.

University of Pittsburgh. Annual commencement, June 13. Oration by the Hon. James M. Beck, President of The Pennsylvania Society, who received the honorary degree of LL.D. Edward A. Woods [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], received the honorary degree of Master of Arts.

David T. Watson [deceased Member of The Pennsylvania Society], Collection of Paintings. Exhibited by the Carnegie Institute, January-February 28. The collection was subsequently sold at auction in New York.

Young Men's Republican Tariff Club Annual Dinner, January 29. Address by Senator Boies Penrose [Member of The Pennsylvania Society].

BRADDOCK. Fiftieth anniversary, June 8. Incorporated by the Court of Quarter Sessions of Allegheny County, June 8, 1867. Commemoration postponed owing to the war with Germany.

BRADDOCK. Memorial Tablets of 1917, erected in connection with the semi-centennial of June 8: John Frazier: "One thousand feet due south from this tablet, on the right bank of the Monongahela, stood the first white man's cabin west of the Allegheries, built by John Frazier, about 1742. Here George Washington was entertained, Thursday, November 22, 1753, and Sunday, December 30, 1753, while on his mission from Governor Dinwiddie of Virginia to warn the French against building forts in the Ohio Valley. The British Army crossed the river at Frazier's cabin on their march to Fort Duquesne the morning of the battle of Braddock's defeat, July 9, 1755."-Braddock's Battlefield Memorial: "Seven miles from Pittsburgh this tablet marks the farthest point west reached by the English Army on their march toward Fort Duquesne. Here they were attacked July 9, 1755, by the French and Indians and driven back across the Monongahela River. George Washington, then 23

years old, fought in this battle."-Braddock's Spring: "Braddock's Spring was located near this tablet. Here General Braddock was refreshed and the wounds bathed that he received in the battle of Braddock's defeat, July 9, 1755. From these injuries he died July 13, 1755."-Marquis de Lafayette: "In this house [Wallace mansion] General, the Marquis de La Fayette, the distinguished Frenchman who assisted the colonies in securing their independence, was entertained for one night, May 28, 1825, by Judge George Wallace, whose home it then was. This occurred on the occasion of the General's visit to this country as the 'Guest of the Nation' after an absence of nearly half a century. This house was later used as the Edgeworth Ladies' Seminary, the first school of its kind west of the Alleghenies."

ELIZABETH. Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church. Fiftieth anniversary, September 29-October 7.

GIBSONIA. St. Barnabas' Free Home for Convalescents and Incurable Men. Corner-stone laid June 11 by the Rt. Rev. Cortlandt Whitehead, Past Chaplain of The Pennsylvania Society; address by Dr. John A. Brashear [Member].

HOMESTEAD. Masonic Temple cornerstone laid, May 5.

MCKEESPORT. Young Men's Christian Association. Subscription of the U. S. Steel Corporation of $100,000 to the fund for a new building made March 9.

NOBLESTOWN. United Presbyterian Church. One hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary, September 25-26. The congregation was organized in 1792.

OAKMONT. Fifth United States Reserve Engineers. Presentation of National and Regimental flags, July 2. Address by Dr. John A. Brashear [Member of The Pennsylvania Society].

SEWICKLEY. James Henry Lindsay Memorial. Pulpit canopy, the gift of Mrs. W. D. Henry to St. Stephen's P. E. Church in memory of her father, September 30.

OAKMONT.-Charles Bailey Memorial. Two silk flags for St. Thomas's Memorial P. E. Church, gift of Mrs. Bailey, July.

TARENTUM. Allegheny Valley Chamber of Commerce of Tarentum, Brackenridge, Natrona and vicinity. New headquarters opened September 24. The Chamber was organized November 22, 1915.

WILKINSBURG. Henry P. Lieber Monument, in Woodlawn Cemetery, unveiled July 1. The exercises included an address by the Hon. Charles H. Kline, Member of The Pennsylvania Society. Lieber was a Pittsburgh youth who died on duty on the Mexican border last November.
