HUMMELSTOWN. One hundred and fifty-fifth anniversary, October 26. Laid out by Frederick Hummel, October 26, 1762. For many years it was called Frederickstown; the date of the change is unknown.

MIDDLETOWN. St. Peter's Lutheran Church. One hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the completion of the church building, September 16-19. The plot of ground on which the church was built was purchased September 18, 1764. In the same year King George III., through John Penn, granted permission to the "Lutherian" congregation of Middletown to collect funds for the erection of a building in which to worship. The original document is still preserved by the church, the building being erected in 1767. It was considerably restored in 1850 and is still standing. A new church for the congregation was erected in 1877-1879. In connection with the anniversary a tablet in memory of the former superintendents of the Sunday School was unveiled September 17. The men commemorated are John Snell (1819-1823), John Croll (1823-1873), George Abner Lauman (1873-1889), and Isaac Ober Nissley (18891917).

MILLERSBURG. One hundred and tenth anniversary. Laid out in 1807 by Daniel Miller, after whom it is named. Incorporated as a borough April 8, 1850.

CHESTER. Court House Restoration. Offer of the Hon. William C. Sproul [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], to meet the cost of restoration and its subsequent dedication to public use, accepted by the Town Council, April 23.

CHESTER. City Hall. Ground broken for new building May 31. The first spadefull of earth was lifted by the Hon. William C. Sproul [Member of The Pennsylvania Society].

CHESTER. Delaware County Democrat. Fiftieth anniversary, September 1. This newspaper was founded in 1867 by Col. William Cooper Tulley.

CHESTER. Third Presbyterian Church. Forty-fifth anniversary, March 29.

CHESTER. Wilde Post, No. 25, G. A. R. Fiftieth anniversary, January 30. Organized January 29, 1867.

Rev. Samuel Thomas Linton Memorial. Tablet in Ridley Park Presbyterian Church unveiled February 4. Mr. Linton, who died in 1916, was pastor of this church for fifteen years. SWARTHMORE. Isaac H. Clothier [Member of The Pennsylvania Society]. Tree planted by Mr. Clothier at Swarthmore College, October 27.

VILLANOVA. College of St. Thomas of Villanova. Seventyfifth anniversary, January 5. On January 5, 1842, the Augustinian Fathers obtained title to a tract of land devoted to school and college purposes. The institution was closed from 1857 to 1865; its later great growth dates from the last named year. At the Annual Commencement, June 11, 1917, the honorary degree of LL.D. was given to the Hon. Frank B. McClain, Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania and Member of Tne Pennsylvania Society.

ERIE. Naval Brig "Niagara." The care and custody of the brig "Niagara," to which Commodore Perry transferred his flag from the disabled ship "Lawrence" during the Battle of Lake Erie, confided to the city of Erie by Act of Legislature. Approved July 5.

ERIE. Naval Brig "Niagara." Bill introduced into the United States Senate by Hon. Boies Penrose [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], December 4, for the repair, preservation, care and future maintenance of the restored historical naval brig "Niagara," Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's flagship in the Battle of Lake Erie.
