Junior Warden of Lodge No. 43 December 13, 1820, and its Worshipful Master, December 23, 1822. A tablet commemorating these facts was unveiled in Masonic Hall in connection with the centenary.

LANCASTER. Lodge No. 43, F. & A. M. One hundred and thirtieth anniversary, July 14. The original charter was granted April 21, 1785; surrendered and renewed July 14, 1787. No commemoration.

LANCASTER. United Brethren Church. One hundred and fiftieth anniversary of its foundation May 27.

LANCASTER. Monterey Lodge No. 242, I. O. O. F. Seventieth anniversary, April 23.

LANCASTER. Bethany United Evangelical Church. Fiftieth anniversary, September 30. The congregation was founded in 1867. The present church edifice was dedicated November 10, 1895.

LANCASTER. Christ Lutheran Church. Fiftieth anniversary, October 5-10. This congregation originated as the Manor Street Mission of Trinity Lutheran Church, opened September 20, 1867. The cornerstone of a chapel was laid June 21, 1868. It was organized as a regular congregation March 9, 1881. A new church building was dedicated May 29, 1892. The present building was consecrated October 20, 1893.

LANCASTER. Strawberry St. African Methodist Episcopal Church. One hundredth anniversary October 14. This, the oldest negro church in Lancaster County, was organized June 10, 1817.

LANCASTER. Gen. George H. Thomas Post No. 84, G. A. R. Fiftieth anniversary, November 1. Organized September 28, 1867. LANCASTER. Lancaster Marine Reserve Corps. Presentation of an American flag, the gift of H. B. Keiper [Member of The Pennsylvania Society] in St. John's P. E. Church, June 10.

LANCASTER. James Kelly Memorial. Organ in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, the gift of his sister, Miss Catherine Kelly, dedicated June 17.

LANCASTER. Theological Seminary of the Reformed Church. Walter F. Richard Dormitory (whose family contributed $25,000 to the work), and Dietz Hall (Refectory), named for Jacob Y. Dietz, dedicated October 28. Many memorials are included in these buildings. Richard Hall: Gymnasium for Dr. Eugene I. Santee;

Library: S. P. Zimmerman. Among the memorials of the windows of the Refectory are the Bible and Arms of William Penn, and the autograph of the Rev. John Philip Boehm. In connection with the dedicatory ceremonies a portrait of the Rev. Dr. John C. Bowman, painted by Mrs. Helen Miller Wellens, the gift of the late Henry S. Williamson [Deceased Member of The Pennsylvania Society] was unveiled, and a tablet in memory of the Rev. Dr. Frederick A. Gast.

MANOR TOWNSHIP. Stehman's Memorial United Brethren Church. Sixtieth anniversary July 8. The church was founded by John Staman in 1857. A portrait of the founder was unveiled in connection with the anniversary exercises. A portrait of the Rev. Philip William Otterbein, the founder of the United Brethren Church in America, was unveiled in this church February 4.

MARIETTA. Ashara Lodge No. 398, F. & A. M. Fiftieth anniversary, September 5. Warranted September 5, 1867.

MAYTOWN. Maytown Reformed Church. Memorials of the one hundred and fifty-second anniversary, August 26: Monument to the memory of Caleb and Anne Maria Way, grandparents of Bayard Taylor, erected by their granddaughter, Anne B. Lamborn Polk. Markers for the graves of three Revolutionary soldiers: Ensign Henry Haines, Sergeant Frederick Gelbach and Private Uptegrove, erected by the Witness Tree Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Memorial windows in the church: for Simon Cameron, the gift of the Hon. J. Donald Cameron; for Jacob and Ann Barr and Elizabeth Barr Johnston, the gift of Frances J. Johnston; for Rebecca Way Taylor, the mother of Bayard Taylor, by Anne B. Lamborn Polk. Window in the Sunday School for the Superintendents: Simon F. Albright, Jacob S. Roath, Abram Sload, John W. Diebler, J. P. Herchelroth, H. N. Risser.

MILLERSVILLE. State Normal School acquired by the State by purchase February 24.

MT. Joy (near). Donegal Presbyterian Church. Memorial Tablet erected by the Donegal Society on the occasion of its ninth

annual reunion, June 21. Address of presentation by the Hon. H. Burd Cassel [Member of The Pennsylvania Society]. This church. was founded prior to 1721 by settlers from the north of Ireland, and was originally built of logs. The present building was erected in 1740, on a patent granted by John, Thomas and Richard Penn, June 4, 1740. The Presbytery of Donegal was organized in it October 11, 1732.

PARADISE. Lancaster County Historical Society. Meeting at the home of Chief Justice J. Hay Brown [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], September 6. Address by Judge Charles I. Landis on "Madame Mary Ferree and the Huguenots in Lancaster County." Address by the Hon. Thomas L. Montgomery [Member of The Pennsylvania Society] on "Reminiscences of Lafayette."

PARADISE Patriotic Rally of citizens of Paradise, Salisbury and Leacock Townships, September 19. Addresses by the Hon. J. Hay Brown, Chief Justice of Pennsylvania [Member of The Pennsylvania Society] and John A. Nauman [Member of The Pennsylvania Society].

PARADISE. Rev. Richard Lucius Chittenden Memorial. Tablet in All Saints P. E. Church, dedicated December 16. Mr. Chittenden was rector of this church from 1886 to 1909, and rector emeritus to November, 1913.

REAMSTOWN. Salem Union Church. One hundredth anniversary, November 25. Its history dates back to June 28, 1773, when the property was acquired for two shillings and a ground rent of four pence. The cornerstone of the present church building was laid June 4, 1815, and it was dedicated June 8-9, 1817.

UPPER LEACOCK TOWNSHIP. David S. Johns Educational Fund, founded by the bequest of Mr. Johns, will probated January 25. The income from the fund is to be used for the elevation of practical education in the township.

WEST LAMPETER. Vocational High School dedicated May 17.

Lawrence County

NEW CASTLE.-One hundred and fifteenth anniversary. Laid out by C. Stewart in 1802. Incorporated as a city in 1867.

Lebanon County

Sedgwick Post No. 42, G. A. R. Fiftieth anniverOrganized March 6, 1867. No commemoration. LEBANON. Valley National Bank. Sixtieth anniversary May 15. Incorporated as a State Bank by Act of Legislature of May 15, 1857, it was organized as a National Bank December 6, 1864. It is interesting circumstance that the vaults of the bank still contain some of the original gold paid into its treasury for the original stock subscription in 1857.

ALLENTOWN. One hundred and fifty-fifth anniversary. Laid out by James Allen in 1762. It was called Northampton until 1800; then Allentown until 1811, when it was incorporated as the borough of Northampton. The present name was finally adopted in 1838.

ALLENTOWN. Evangelical Lutheran Ministerium of Pennsylvania and Adjacent States. One hundred and seventieth Annual Convention, June 4-8.
