ALLENTOWN. St. John's Reformed Church. Fiftieth anniversary, April 10-15. This congregation was organized to meet the need of a service in English, and is an outgrowth of Zion German Reformed Church, which fifty years ago had only occasional services in English. A Sunday School was organized December 28, 1865, and the first Consistory of the new congregation was elected on January 15, 1866. The congregation was incorporated April 8, 1867. The church building, dedicated January 3, 1868, has been much changed and added to at various times.

ALLENTOWN. College for Women.. Fiftieth anniversary, May 18-June 7. Founded in July under the guidance of the East Pennsylvania Classis, as the Lehigh Female College, this institution was formally opened September 5, 1867. It was incorporated in 1868 as the Allentown Female College. which is still its corporate name; it is generally known as the Allentown College for Women. Since 1905 it has been owned and controlled by the Eastern Synod of the Reformed Church. New buildings on the new site, "Cedar Crest," were dedicated in connection with the fiftieth anniversary.

ALLENTOWN. First Defenders Monument, the gift of Col. Harry C. Trexler, dedicated June 14. The monument is a memorial to the patriotism and courage of the officers and men of Allen Infantry, Allentown, who, with four other companies of Pennsylvania militia, April 18, 1861, rushed to the defense of the National capital and became the First Defenders.

ALLENTOWN. Hospital of the Sacred Heart. Cornerstone laid October 28.

CATASAUQUA. National Bank of Catasauqua. Sixtieth anniversary, May 5. Incorporated by an Act dated May 5, 1857, the first meeting of the Board of Directors was held September 9, 1857. It became a National bank June 20, 1865. Its charter was twice extended, June 20, 1885, and June 20, 1905.

EMAUS. Emmaus Moravian Congregation. One hundred and seventieth anniversary, July 29. Organized July 30, 1747. A new church building was erected in 1749, a third in 1766 and the present structure in 1834.

MACUNGIE. Sixtieth anniversary of incorporation. Incorpo

rated as a borough in 1857. It was laid out by Peter Miller about 1776, and was called Millerstown until incorporated under its present name, which signifies "the feeding place of bears."

MICKLEYS. Mickley Family Memorial, erected by the Michelet Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Monument in the family plot in St. John's Lutheran and Reformed Church, erected as a Huguenot and Revolutionary memorial; dedicated October 12. The Mickley family contributed a number of members to the cause of the Revolutionary and other wars. John Jacob Mickley hauled the Liberty Bell from Philadelphia to Allentown to save it from the British. The inscriptions on the monument commemorate: Jean Jacques Michelet, sailed from Rotterdam on the ship Hope May 4, 1733; arrived in Philadelphia August 28, 1733; John Jacob Mickley and his wife, Elizabeth Furkhalter; reached Philadelphia August 28, 1733; John Jacob Mickley, 1737-1808; John Martin Mickley, 17521828; Madalene Mickley (twin), 1745-1827, wife of Peter Deshler. RITTERSVILLE. St. Peter's Reformed Church. Seventy-fifth anniversary, September 29.

HAZLETON. Grace Reformed Church. Seventieth anniversary of the dedication of the first church building April 15-16. The congregation originated in 1846 or 1847, the first building being dedicated April 17, 1847. The present building was dedicated March 8, 1903.

HAZLETON. Girls' Recreation Club House, erected by the Duplan Silk Co. for its women employees, dedicated June 14. The exercises included an address by Joseph R. Grundy [Member of The Pennsylvania Society].

KINGSTON. Kingston Lodge No. 395, F. & A. M. Fiftieth anniversary, June 6. Warranted June 6, 1867.

KINGSTON. Mrs. Mary Buckingham Loveland Makely Memorial. Organ for the Presbyterian Church dedicated June 24.

PITTSTON. First Presbyterian Church. Seventy-fifth anniversary, June 10-14. Organized in 1842, the church had but a feeble existence until the Rev. Dr. N. G. Parke began his work as the first pastor in 1844. The first church building was erected in 1846. The present building was built in 1857.

WHITE HAVEN. Seventy-fifth anniversary of incorporation. Incorporated as a borough in 1842.

WILKES-BARRÉ. One hundred and forty-fifth anniversary. Laid out by Col. John Durkee in 1772, and named for John Wilkes and Col. Barré. It was incorporated as a borough in 1806 and as a city in 1871.

WILKES-BARRÉ. Wilkes-Barré Record. Eighty-fifth anniversary. This newspaper was first published in 1832.

WILKES-BARRÉ. Luther League of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Fiftieth anniversary, December 2.

WILKES-BARRÉ. Masonic Temple dedicated June 24. dedication coincided with a commemoration of the two hundredth anniversary of the first known Grand Lodge of Free Masons, and the one hundred and thirty-eight anniversary of the first known operations of Free Masonry in Wilkes-Barré.

Lycoming County

JERSEY SHORE. Presbyterian Church. One hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary, June 24-July 1. Originally known as the Pine Creek Church, this congregation had its origin in 1792. The first church building was dedicated in 1798. It subsequently removed to Jersey Shore, and in 1851 took the name it now bears. The present edifice was dedicated July 14, 1895. A marker, commemorative of the origin of the church, was unveiled June 28. A table, the gift of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Washburn, commemorative of the "Pine Creek Declaration of Independence," with a marker, the gift of Lt. Col. H. W. Schoemaker [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], were dedicated November 30.

JERSEY SHORE. Fort Antes Memorial. Boulder with bronze tablet, erected by the Pennsylvania Historical Commission and Fort Antes Chapter, D. A. R., to mark the site of Fort Antes ; dedicated June 8. Fort Antes was built by Lt.-Col. Henry Antes in 1778 about opposite Jersey Shore on the east side of Nippenose Creek.

MONTOURSVILLE. Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lu theran Church. Fiftieth anniversary, May 10.

MUNCY. Ninetieth anniversary, January 19. Incorporated as the borough of Pennsborough March 15, 1826, the name was changed to Muncy January 19, 1827.

WILLIAMSPORT. Third Street M. E. Church. Fiftieth anniversary, October 14-21. The first chapel was dedicated October 13, 1867; the church building was dedicated July 5, 1884.

WILLIAMSPORT. Christ P. E. Church. Memorials of 1917: Henry White Memorial Rectory, the gift of Mrs. White in memory of her husband, given May 24. Whittaker Memorial Organ, the gift of Mrs. Max L. Whittaker in memory of her mother, Mrs. Mary Neafie Whittaker, given November 14.

WILLIAMSPORT.-Savings Institution of the City of Williamsport. Fiftieth anniversary April 12. Created by special act of Legislature, approved April 12, 1867, and opened for business on June 4 following.
