NEW YORK. Hell Gate Bridge Route, the New York Connecting Railroad, of the Pennsylvania Railroad, by which an all-rail connection between New England and Washington and points south are maintained, dedicated at Hell Gate Bridge, March 9, with an address by Dr. Samuel Rea, President of the Pennsylvania Railroad and Member of The Pennsylvania Society. The line was formally opened by the running of the Federal Express from Washington to Boston, on April 1.

NEW YORK. Thomas Eakins Memorial Exhibition, Metropolitan Museum of Art, November 5-December 15. Mr. Eakins was born in Philadelphia in 1844, and was long identified with that city as a painter.

UTICA. Address by Dr. R. S. Naón, Argentine Ambassador and Gold Medallist of The Pennsylvania Society, before the December Club, March 21.

CINCINNATI. Address by Joseph G. Butler, Jr. [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], on sixty years of progress in the steel industry, drawing on his personal experiences for that time, before the American Iron and Steel Institute, October 26.

COLUMBUS. Address by Dr. R. S. Naón, Argentine Ambassador and Gold Medallist of The Pennsylvania Society, at Ohio State University, February 15.

NILES. McKinley Birthplace Memorial Building. Dedicated October 5. This splendid memorial to the late President McKinley owes its inception to Joseph G. Butler, Jr. [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], and to whose personal energy it was brought to completion. He delivered an address at the dedication. Pennsylvania memorials included in the building: Bust of the Hon. Philander Chase Knox [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], in the Court of Honour. Busts of B. F. Jones, Dr. Andrew Carnegie [Past President of The Pennsylvania Society], Alexander M. Byers and Henry W. Oliver in the Museum Room. Bust of Henry C. Frick [Member of The Pennsylvania Society], in the Library.
