Meeting called to order at 10:30 a.m.

THE PRESIDENT: The meeting will be in order please. I wish first to announce, on behalf of the Treasurer, that he would greatly appreciate it if all who are intending to be present at the banquet to-night would make that fact known to him without any unnecessary delay, so that he may know just how many to provide for. He has the tickets, which will be issued to those who wish to buy them.

I have been requested, by a letter from Mr. Frank L. Moore, our former President, to convey to this meeting his sincere regret at his inability to be present here to-day. This is the first meeting of this Association at which Mr. Moore has not been present. He was for several years the President of the Association and I think perhaps had more to do than any other individual with the organization and conduct of the work of the Association; and he did his work successfully, as we all know. It is a matter of sincere personal regret on his part-as it is on the part of us all—that through illness in his family he has been obliged to go to New York this week and cannot be here to-day.

We are met here to-day for the 12th Annual Convention of this Association. It is proper and customary for us to review the vork of the past year at these meetings, and I think this year we can best understand what we have done and what has been accomplished if we refer it to the objects for which we are organized and the principles for which we stand.

Section 2 of Article I of our constitution states these objects to be, "To protect, perpetuate and increase the forest growth of the State through the establishment of a rational and constructive
