ten volumes quarto and three volumes folio, I am enabled to enrich the present work with a great variety of very useful forms.

Here I shall close this catalogue; for of living writers it might, perhaps, be invidious to speak.

XXXII. In adding another collection of Precedents in Conveyancing to the list already published, I owe it to the reader and to myself to say, that though, as an editor, I am answerable for whatever defects may be discovered — and he who expects perfection in such a work will seek for what he can nowhere find;- yet the merits of the collection — and an editor may be excused for thinking them not inconsiderable— belong to others; whose names, if it were becoming to mention them, would alone afford sufficient reasons for this publication.

It was my intention to subjoin to the Forms such annotations as seemed necessary to elucidate the principles which they practically exemplify; but finding that this would trespass too much on the topics more appropriately discussed in the first volume, I was obliged to abandon, at least in great measure, this part of my design.

Vide Vol.I. book ii. chap. iii., and the cases there cited.
