BOARD OF MANAGERS President WILLIAM L. VISSCHER Vice-President ARVIE ELDRED Treasurer and Secretary JOSEPH PERLMUTTER Superintendent MRS. FANNIE FRENCH MORSE ANNUAL REPORT To the Legislature of the State of New York The Board of Managers of the New York State Training School for Girls respectfully submits the following report for the year ending June 30, 1926. During the year 1926 the School lost a firm friend in the death of Manager John F. Brennan. Mr. Brennan was intensely interested in the activities of the School. He had served as Treasurer for a number of years. The Board of Managers felt a deep sense of loss in his absence. Daniel V. McNamee of Hudson, New York, was appointed to the Board to fill the vacancy. During the Legislative Session of 1926, there was appropriated by your Honorable Body, funds whereby the School was enabled to purchase a most desirable farm located a short distance from the City of Hudson. The activities of farm life have become an important feature in the work of the School. Bringing the girls from the cities, who have never had contacts with nature, in harmony with the great outdoor, gives a thrill for new life. If the farm is developed, and the opportunities for good to the girls in producing healthy bodies and clean minds utilized to capacity, it requires additional buildings. The placing of certain groups upon the farm necessitates buildings. An appeal is made for the appropriation to enable the School to produce results, which will be for the greatest benefit to the State. The School has been filled to capacity and beyond its capacity during the past year, and the Board of Managers believes that the benefits derived from the educational and uplifting influences, merit your careful consideration in dealing with the requests which have been made for enlarging the entrance and the scope of the work being performed. Attached is the fiscal and financial report of the Superintendent for the past year. BOARD OF MANAGERS, WILLIAM L. VISSCHER, President. ARVIE ELDRED, Vice-President.
