My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction : For whom the Lord loveth, he correcteth; even as a father, the son, in whom he delighteth. She is more precious than rubies: and all'the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Her ways are ways of pleasantness; and-all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is every one that retaineth her. Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father ; and attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine; forsake not my law. For I was my father's son, tender; and only beloved of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, let thine heart retain my words; keep my commandments; and live. Get wisdom ; get understanding : forget it not ; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee.. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.
