For the deputy State Engineer and Surveyor, for salary, two thousand dollars; for compensation of clerks employed to assist in preparation of the report of the State Engineer and Surveyor on railroads, one thousand eight hundred dollars; and for expenses of printing and binding said report, five thousand dollars. The aforesaid salary, compensation and expenses of printing and binding, whether ordered by the legislature or otherwise, shall be repaid to the treasury by the several railroad companies of this State in proportion to their gross receipts, pursuant to chapter five hundred and twenty-six, of the laws of eighteen hundred and fifty-five.
