ADJECTIVE

An Adjective is a word added to a Substantive to express its quality.

Adjectives in the Armenian language admit besides the number or case the degrees of comparison.

The Comparatives are formed in three modes; 1. with the particle 4ýu̸, as pwpb, good, բարեգոյն, better. չար, bad, չարագոյն, worse . բազում՝, much, many, բազմագոյն, more. 2. with the prepositions, Tower, we - as, &, great, & puu, db & bu, www L&, greater. 3. with different cases of the substantive, as, Md upqwphbg, greaմեծն մարգարեից, ter than all prophets. &' Swipqwplu, greater amongst the prophets.

The Superlatives are also formed in three manners: 1. with the particles f‰ or wƉ, 4tp, 4d, kptx or put before them, as, ամենաբարի, best .. ամենիմաստուն, wisest . գերամաքուր, most clean . եծավայելուչ, most convenient. Enwdk&, greatest. 2. by adding to them some adverbs, as, եւս մեծագոյն օր մեծագոյն եւս, greatest. Jոյժ վատթարա գոյն , անՀնարին չար , worst. ամենեւին գե ղեցիկ, most handsome. երիցս եղկելի, most miserable. 3. by redoubling the positives, as, մեծամեծ,greatest . չարաչար or չար առաւել քան զչար, worst,

MIDDLE NOUNS

Those nouns are named middle or mixed,

which are neither Substantives nor Pronouns, and are classed generally in English among the Adjectives.

They are of five kinds: Numeral, Partitive, General, Interrogative, and Relative.

THE NOUNS NUMERAL.

The nouns numeral are of five kinds: Absolute, Cardinal, Separative, Distributive, and Replicative.

-թնեւտամն or եւթնուտասն, seventeen . Ութեւտամն or ութուտասն, eighteen. նեւտասն օր իննուտասն, nineteen.

Դորեակ օր քառեակ, four only, four.

Հնգեակ, five only, five.

Տասնեակ, ten only, ten.

ւթանասնեակ, seventy only, seventy. Հարիւրեակ, hundred only, hundred.

DISTRIBUTIVE.

Էրկոքեան or Երկոքին, both, the two. րեքեան օր երեքին, the three.

Չորեքեան օր չորեքին, the four.

ւթանեքեան or եւթանեքին, the seven. րկոտասանեքեան oր երկոտասանեքին, the

twelve.

իրկաքանչիւր, both, one and the other.

REPLICATIVE.

Էրկպատիկ օր կրկին, double, two. |րեքպատիկ, եռապատիկ օr երեքկին, triple, treble, threefold.

Չորեքպատիկ , քառապատիկ օր չորեքկին , ,

fourfold.

Հնգապատիկ , quintuple, ւթնապատիկ, sevenfold.

ամնպատիկ, tenfold.

fivefold.

արիւրապատիկ, hundredfold. ազարապատիկ, thousandfold.

THE NOUNS PARTITIVE.

Ոմն, ոք, իք, some, somebody, one, any, whosoever.

իմ, ինչ, a, one, some, certain, single, any. Միմեանց օr իրերաց, of one, of the other. իւրաքանչիւր or անցնիւր, each, every, any. եւս օr միւս, other, another.
