STATE TEMPERANCE CONVENTION.

A Mass Convention of the friends of Prohibition will be held in HARRISBURG, on the 26th and 27th of January, 1854, at 10 o'clock, A. M. We hope every city, and town, and temperance organization in the State may be fully represented. Never have we been called together under such circumstances as the present. Voters of Pennsylvania, come up to the Metropolis, and greet the good men you have elected to enact a law to suppress the drinking houses and tippling shops. Distinguished men from other States will be with us to assist in our deliberations.

FIRST DAY.

MORNING SITTING.

Pursuant to the above call, delegates appointed by County Meetings, and organized bodies of the friends of Prohibition in the various counties of the State, assembled in the German Reformed Church, in Harrisburg, on Thursday, January 26th, 1854, at ten o'clock, A. M.

The Convention was called to order by Stephen Miller, of Dauphin, on whose motion ROBERT M. FOUST, Esq., of Philadelphia, was appointed temporary Chairman.

On motion of Mr. Miller, Messrs. J. Heron Foster, of Pittsburgh, William Birney, of Philadelphia, J. M. W. Geist, of Lancaster, Wm. P. Coulter, of Harrisburg, and S. N. Lightner, of Allegheny City, were appointed Secretaries.

The Throne of Grace was then addressed in a fervent and impressive manner by Rev. A. Rood, of West Philadelphia.

On motion of Rev. Pennel Coombe, the following named gentlemen were appointed committee to receive the credentials of delegates.-Wm. C. Flanigen, of Philadelphia, C. L. Magee, Pittsburgh, and Joel Hinckley, of Harrisburg, who reported as follows:
