The following letter from one of our subscribers seems to express so clearly what what The Outlook aims to accomplish that the writer's permission was obtained to reprint it in full.

OSBERT E. IRISH,

ATTORNEY AT LAW,

IRONTON, OHIO.

January 15, 1918.

The Outlook,

No. 381 Fourth Avenue,
New York City, New York.
Gentlemen:

I herewith enclose check for renewal
subscription of "THE OUTLOOK", and as even editors
and publishers sometimes like to know what the
public think of their periodicals and the reason
for the faith that is in them, it may not be amiss
to state here, why I have, for a number of years,
always enjoyed "THE OUTLOOK", until it has come
to be virtually a part of me.

I like "THE OUTLOOK", because there
is no camouflage about it;-because it makes you
think, and a very large percentage of the dailies
and even weeklies are both what a writer of note
has termed "damnable iteration". I like it,
because it does not repeat in poll parrot fashion,
accounts of commonplace things; in it, I expect
to find the very best.

I like "THE OUTLOOK" because it is
not neutral; there is no neutral ground between
right and wrong, and "THE OUTLOOK" is never
neutral. I like it, as a noted humorist once
said about "liking a rooster for the crow there
is in him and for the spur he had to back up the
crow with", so I like "THE OUTLOOK" for the
sentiment expressed, the literary ability and
the style used in the expression of that sentiment.
Then, again, I like "THE OUTLOOK", because when
it appears necessary to flay a man, "THE OUTLOOK"
does it with a scalpel and not with a bludgeon.
For these and many other reasons,
which to enumerate would make this too lengthy,
I like "THE OUTLOOK", and feel that we cannot
get along without it.

Most cordially and sincerely,

Are you taking the risk this bank took?

"We want a big safe, quick!" said the head of a New Mexico bank, (name on request.)

"We are remodeling our building, and can't use our vault. Every night we are risking books and papers we could not afford to lose."

An Art Metal Light Weight Steel Safe, promptly solved their problem, stopped their risk.

Are you taking a similar risk for want of room in your present safe?
