The bill entitled "An act to authorise the Clerk of Wyoming county to discharge a certain mortgage," was read a third time. The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to the final passage of said bill, and it was decided in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Senate voting in favor thereof, as follows:

Mr. Foote offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That there be printed for the use of the Senate 1,000 extra copies of the annual report of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Ordered, That said resolution be referred to the committee on public printing.

On motion of Mr. Boardman,

Resolved, That all claim papers of Kasson, Lewis & Ostrander, on file in the years 1855 and 1856, be taken from the files of the Senate and referred to the committee on claims.

On motion of Mr. Paterson,

Resolved, That the Honorable the Assembly, be respectfully requested to take from its files the papers relating to the claim of Albert Marcellus, and send them to the Senate, and when received they be referred to the committee on claims.

On motion of Mr. Paterson,

Resolved, That the committee on canals be requested to inquire into the necessity and propriety of appointing additional appraisers of canal damages, and that they have power to report by bill or otherwise.

Mr. Loveland offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That 200 extra copies of the annual report of the Canal Appraisers be ordered printed.

Ordered, That said resolution be referred to the committee on public printing.

Mr. Wadsworth offered the following resolution:

Resolved, (if the Assembly concur,) That there be printed 2,000 extra copies of the annual report of the Regents of the University, for the use of the Regents.

Ordered, That said resolution be laid on the table.

On motion of Mr. Pratt,

Resolved, That the Secretary of State be requested to report to the Senate the number of Census Reports of 1855, now in his office, and subject to the order of the Legislature; together with a detailed statement of the persons who have been entitled to the same, the authority for the distribution, and the aggregate cost of printing this document.

On motion of Mr. Ely,

Resolved, That the committee on public buildings be requested to examine, and at an early day report upon the practicability of improving the method of warming and ventilating the Senate chamber.

Mr. Darling, from the committee on engrossed bills, reported as correctly engrossed the bills entitled as follows:

"An act for the relief of the Brunswick association for insuring against the loss of property by fire, in the town of Brunswick and county of Rensselaer."

"An act to amend an act entitled 'An act to incorporate the Schenectady county Mutual Insurance company,' passed May 26,

1841."

Mr. Brandreth moved to take from the table the motion to reconsider the vote on rejecting the following resolution:

Resolved, That every Senator, officer and reporter of the Senate, who has not already received the same, be furnished with a copy of the Census of the State of New-York for 1855, provided they can be furnished without reprinting the document.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

The President then put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion to reconsider, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Truman moved to add the words: "and without additional expense to the State."

Mr. Brandreth moved to lay the resolution and the motion to amend the same, on the table.

Mr. Pratt moved to reconsider the vote on adopting the following resolution:

Resolved, That the joint library committee ascertain and report at an early day, what books and documents are now in the various departments of the government or elsewhere, which have not yet been appropriated or disposed of.

On motion of Mr. Pratt,

Resolved, That the Regents of the University be requested to report the number of Census Reports of 1855, in their possession.

Mr. Brandreth moved to amend the 9th rule by striking out "four" and inserting "three."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. J. D. Willard moved to amend the 33d rule by adding after the words "select committee" the words "committee of the whole." The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Scott moved to strike out from the 50th rule the words "without the unanimous consent of the Senate."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the negative.

Mr. Mather moved to add to the 39th rule the words "and all nominations of officers residing in New-York, shall be referred to

the Senators from that city, and all nominations of officers residing in Kings county, shall be referred to the Senators from that county."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Smith moved to amend the 6th rule by adding at the end of the rule the words "subject to an appeal to the Senate."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the negative.

Mr. Brandreth moved to amend the 31st rule by inserting after the word "Senate" the words "for two consecutive days;" also to insert after the words "was taken" the words "within two days from that."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was decided in the negative.

Mr. Johnson moved to amend the 31st rule by adding after the words "from the Senate" the words "until the second day after its passage, unless otherwise ordered."

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the negative.

The President then put the question whether the Senate would agree to the rules as amended, and it was decided in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Brandreth, the special order set down for Wednesday evening, being the consideration of the resolutions relative to territorial legislation, was postponed until one week from to-morrow, at the same time.

On motion of Mr. Ely, the Senate adjourned.

The journal of yesterday was read and approved.

Mr. Williams presented a petition of inhabitants of the county of Cayuga, for the incorporation of a company to construct a bridge across Cayuga Lake, at the village of Cayuga; which was read and referred to the committee on roads and bridges.

Mr. Burhans presented a petition of the collector and others of the town of Hancock, asking for a law extending the time for the collection of taxes; which was read and committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Schell presented a memorial of A. Roosevelt and 50 other merchants of the city of New-York, praying that 50 per cent of
