Of this, the mileage owned by the Louisville, and Nashville Railroad Company is as follows: main track, 1,125.29 miles; second track,[34.68 miles; siding, 260.57 miles; total, 1,385.86 miles. In addition to this the mileage of lines leased and controlled by the Louisville and Nashville in Kentucky, is 88.21 miles main track; 4.31 miles siding; total, 92.52 miles; grand total of track owned, leased and controlled, 1,478.38 miles. The lines operated by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Company in this State embrace 345.01 miles main track; 9.76 miles second track; 88.20 miles siding; total, 442.97 miles. The Chesapeake, Ohio and Southwestern Railroad Company has, in Kentucky, 276 miles main track, and 48.40 miles siding; total 324.40 miles. There are operated in connection with the C., O. & S. W. the Hodgenville and Elizabethtown Railroad, 11.10 miles in length; the Owensboro, Falls of Rough and Green River Railroad, 42.16 miles in length, and the Chesapeake and Nashville Railroad with 9.56 miles in Kentucky. The Cincinnati, New Orleans and Texas Pacific Railroad Company has, in Kentucky, 197,93 miles main track, and 60.88 miles siding; total, 258.81 miles. These four systems operate two-thirds of the railroad mileage, well nigh all of it that is profitable or important in Kentucky. INCREASE IN MILEAGE.
