WAILING OF THE LORD.
Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him; but their time should have endured foreVer.
He should have fed them also with the finest of the
wheat; and with honey out of the rock should I have SATISFIED thee. PS. 81 :13–16.
WAILING OF PENITENT SINNERS.
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we
wept, when we remembered Zion. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying: Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land P
If I forget thee, Oh Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the
roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy. Ps. 137:1–6.
