Têxes. Lans, statutes, exc. Codes, Criminal THE CRIMINAL LAWS OF TEXAS. COMPRISING THE PENAL CODE AND CODE OF CRIMINAL OF APPEALS REPORTS INCLUSIVE. Entered according to act of Congress, in the year 1881, by GEORGE CLARK, In the office of the Librarian of Congress, at Washington. PREFACE. The following notes of decisions in criminal cases were compiled for my own use several years ago, and additions have been made as each volume of our Reports successively appeared. Prepared, as they have been, amid the press of business engagements, and without any intention of publication, I cannot hope that all inaccuracies have been avoided, but must assume that a use of the work by others will certainly develop some which have escaped my observation. It is, therefore, laid before the profession with misgivings, but with the hope that it may tend to lessen the labors of the practitioner by furnishing him a ready guide to the sources of our criminal law,- the statutes and decisions, and that it may prove of especial value to the younger members of the bar, whose lack of experience necessarily deprives them of that familiarity with the adjudged cases enjoyed by their older brethren. If its future use as a manual of our criminal law shall demonstrate its value to this extent, the object of its publication will have been fully accomplished. WACO, February 1, 1881. - GEO. CLARK.
