The Clerk called the roll, and the following Senators responded: Mr. Campbell offered a resolution in the words following: Resolved, That Charles R. Hotaling be, and he hereby is, elected Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate for the year 1928. The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative. Mr. Gates offered a resolution in the words following: Resolved, That Henry Whitbeck be, and he hereby is, elected Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate for the year 1928. Mr. Baumes offered a resolution in the words following: Resolved, That Harold Cole be, and he hereby is, elected principal doorkeeper of the Senate for the year 1928. The above named committees returned and reported that they have performed their respective duties. Messrs. Hutchinson and Cuvillier, a committee from the Assembly, appeared in the Senate Chamber and announced that the Assembly is organized and ready to proceed to business. Mr. Webb introduced a bill (Int. No. 1) entitled "An act to amend the General Business Law, in relation to aircraft," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on general laws. Mr. Hewitt introduced a bill (Int. No. 2) entitled "An act creating a temporary commission to investigate the subject of reforestation, and making an appropriation for the expenses of such commission," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on finance. Also, a bill (Int. No. 3) entitled "Concurrent resolution of the Senate and Assembly proposing an amendment to Article Seven of the Constitution, in relation to the creation annually for twenty years of a debt or debts of the State to provide moneys for the acquisition and reforestation of land and the establishment of |
