This road has been leased for a term of years for a specific rental to the Fall Brook Coal Company, a corporation of the State of Pennsylvania, and has been kept in repair and operated by them the past year, therefore we have no means of making report in detail. The undersigned have caused the foregoing statements to be prepared by the proper officers and agents of this company, from the books and records, and have examined them as far as practicable, and believe them to be correct. RANKIN, Consulting Engineer and Commissioner of the Boston, Hartford and Erie Railroad Company, being duly sworn, deposes and says, that said company has purchased the rights of franchise and property of the Boston, Hartford and Erie Extension Railroad Company, by virtue of an act of the Legislature of the State of New York, passed April 25th, 1864; that the line is not definitely settled; the company is engaged in making purchases of right of way, land, etc., and examining routes preliminary to construction, only a small amount of which has been done on Dunning's Point, Hudson river.
