The following is a statement of the date of each accident, the place where it occurred, the train, the cause and the extent of the injuries inflicted upon each person, and the name of such person, as follows.

1865.

Oct. 25. A boy, Charles Thorne, contrary to the rules of the company, was sitting on the front platform step and fell off under the wheel, from the injuries of which he died. The coroner exonerated the driver and company from all blame.

Dec. 12. In the evening, a man, Charles Harris, was struck and knocked by a Seventh avenue car under a Sixth avenue car, from the injuries of which he died. The coroner's jury exonerated the company from all blame.

Dec. 16. A man by the name of John Delancy fell off the front platform and injured his arm, not seriously. He was intoxicated.

Dec. 20. In the evening, and during a heavy snow storm, in Canal street, a boy was stealing a ride on an Eighth avenue car; jumped off and fell under the horses of the Sixth avenue car; one of the wheels passed over him and injured him slightly on the head and hand.

Dec. 27. A man in the evening got on the front platform and was much intoxicated, when the conductor and two passengers stopped the car and led him toward the sidewalk, and left him. They then went to the car and started on, but as they started the man made a rush for the car and fell under the wheel, which passed over him, from the injuries of which he died. The coroner's jury exonerated the driver and company from all blame.

1866.

Feb. 16. As a driver of Sixth avenue car,

Nelson,

was, while car was going, stooping over his dash-board, freeing his traces, the car came in collision with a Herring safe truck crossing the track, and the driver was seriously injured, from which he died.

March 17. Late at night, and very dark, in the upper part of the city, a woman, Anna Fox, was lying drunk on the
