Страница 57 - The lands of the State, now owned or hereafter acquired, constituting the forest preserve as now fixed by law, shall be forever kept as wild forest lands. They shall not be leased, sold or exchanged, or be taken by any corporation, public or private, nor shall the timber thereon be sold, removed or destroyed.
Страница 18 - Legislature shall provide far a charge upon the property and municipalities benefited for a reasonable return to the State upon the value of the rights and property of the State used and the services of the State rendered...
Страница 165 - It shall also have charge of the public interests of the State, with regard to forests and tree planting, and especially with reference to forest fires in every part of the State.
Страница 18 - But the legislature may by general laws provide for the use of not exceeding three per centum of such lands for the construction and maintenance of reservoirs for municipal water supply, for the canals of the state and to regulate the flow of streams.

A fair degree of fire protection has been given by the State to privately owned tracts of timberland within the forest preserve, but it is time now for the owners of those tracts to do something for themselves....
Страница 180 - ... localities where its own forest lands are situated, but this is no reason why the remainder of the State should receive no state aid in this important work. There are many large tracts of forest land that are not included in the fire towns, besides vast areas containing valuable woodlots interspersed among agricultural lands. The woodlands outside the fire towns need and deserve fire protection as much as do those inside the preserve. Other States east, south, and west of New York have established...
Страница 172 - ... all the people of the State, do hereby determine and declare that the use of the woods for recreation or sport of any kind is contrary to the public interests and do hereby forbid any person or persons entering forests or woodlands for any purpose except that of necessary business in the Counties of Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis, Oneida, St. Lawrence, Saratoga, Warren, Washington, Jefferson, Oswego, Delaware, Greene, Sullivan and Ulster; and that the prohibition...
