BAEHR, 30 00 I, Ferdinand Baehr, Treasurer of the State of California, do hereby certify that the appropriation for "Postage, expressage, and contingent expenses," for the Treasurer's office, for the twenty-fifth fiscal year, was all expended in the payment of postage and expressage on official letters and packages, rent of post-office box, subscription to newspapers, purchase of powder and balls for arms in office, purchase of and washing of towels, and other necessary expenses of the office. The appropriation for the twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh fiscal years was, I think by error, reduced by the last Legislature one-half, giving one hundred and fifty ($150) dollars per annum for all above enumerated expenses. This is not near enough; I have expended more than that amount-in fact, nearly double-and shall have to ask the next Legislature to make up the deficiency. [SEAL.] JULY 28th, 1875. State Treasurer. |
