Several chapters have been re-written, and eleven new chapters have been introduced. On the other hand, the six lengthy chapters on British and Irish Elementary Education have been omitted, and some others have been abridged. Thus the requisite space has been gained for a mass of new matter, of deep interest, directly bearing on con vents, and the book has been relieved of the heaviest and least readable portion of the first edition.
