BRITISH INDIA.

Railway Company are prepared to receive tenders for the supply and delivery of—

1. Wrought iron round bars.

2. Mild steel flat, round and square bars.
3. Materials for steel foundry,

as per specifications to be seen at the Company's offices, Nicholas Lane, London, E.C.

Tenders are to be sent to the Secretary, marked "Tender for Wrought Iron," or as the case may be, not later than 12 noon on the 15th June.

The Company reserve the right to divide the order, also to decline any tender without assigning a reason, and do not bind themselves to accept the lowest or any tender.

For each specification a fee of 17. 18. is charged, which cannot under any circumstances be returned.

The Directors of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway Company are prepared to receive tenders for the supply of Railway Stores. the following stores, namely:

Canvas; spring steel; mild steel baffle

plates; screw couplings, &c.

Specifications and forms of tender may be obtained at the Company's Offices, 48, Copthall Avenue, E.C., on payment of the fee for the specification, which payment will not be returned.

Tenders must be delivered in sealed envelopes, addressed to the Secretary, marked "Tender for Canvas," or as the case may be, not later than 11 a.m. on Thursday, the 16th June.

The Directors do not bind themselves to accept the lowest or any tender.

CANADA.

The following were among the recent enquiries relating to Canadian trade received at the Canadian Government Enquiries relating Offices, Victoria Street, S.W., whence further to Canadian Trade. information regarding them may be obtained:— Home Enquiries.--A firm of hosiery manufacturers make enquiry respecting the opening that exists in Canada for their goods.

A wholesale agent in Edinburgh has asked to be referred to Canadian houses who require the services of an agent (not buying) to introduce or extend their butter trade.

Enquiry is made for the names of one or two leading Canadian importers of galvanised plain steel sheets.

A London general export and import merchant and agent is looking out for Canadian shippers of flour, butter, &c., as he is in a position to dispose of considerable quantities.

A gentleman, with business connections in South Wales and the West of England, is shortly leaving for a trip to Canada, and desires to meet millers and others who might contemplate appointing a representative in England.

Canadian Enquiries.-A correspondent at Saulte Sainte Marie, Ontario, desires to be placed in communication with likely importers of nickel.

A New Brunswick firm desire to correspond with large manufacturers in Great Britain of note and letter paper, tablets or pads of writing paper, envelopes, boxes of stationery containing envelopes and paper, &c.

CANADA-continued.

A Rossland, B.C., correspondent makes enquiry respecting the market in England for doors, sash mouldings, finishing lumber, &c., made from British Columbia cedar.

The following trade enquiries have been received at the Canadian Section of the Imperial Institute, from the Enquiries relating Curator of which Section further information to Canadian Trade. may be obtained:

Home Enquiry.-A company manufacturing cotton ropes and twine of all descriptions wish to develop trade in Canada.

Canadian Enquiries.—A firm in Halifax, Canada, dealing in large quantities of codfish (boneless and fibred) and canned lobsters, wish to extend their export trade, and would like to hear from United Kingdom buyers of those articles.

A manufacturers' agent in Hamilton is willing to represent a few United Kingdom manufacturers of metal goods and hardware.

A manufacturers' agent in Montreal, whose travellers cover the whole of Canada, seeks a few additional agencies in engineering goods.

The "

CAPE COLONY.

Cape of Good Hope Government Gazette" of 17th May publishes a notification to the effect that tenders Paraffin and are invited for the supply of the following oils, Lard Oils. required for the service of the Cape Government Railway Department during the year 1904 :

75,000 gallons of paraffin oil,
3,000 gallons of lard oil.

Forms of tenders, conditions of contract and all other particulars, may be obtained at the Railway Stores, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and East London. Copies of the Specification may also be seen on application at the offices of the Commercial Intelligence Branch of the Board of Trade, 73, Basinghall Street, E.C., any day between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. (Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Sealed tenders addressed to the Controller and Auditor-General, Cape Town, marked outside, "Tenders for Oils," will be received up to noon on Monday, 8th August, 1904.

The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
