CHAPTER XII

HON. JOHN L. BRIDGES

A Justice of the Supreme Court of Kentucky

75 Anna P. Adair, the oldest daughter of Governor and Mrs. Katherine Adair, was born in South Carolina, April 8, 1786. She married Hon. John L. Bridges, who was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Kentucky. Judge Bridges got considerable prestige by his decision in the celebrated case of Wilkersons and Taylor-in which case Sargeant S. S. Prentiss, distinguished himself in his wonderful defense of Wilkerson. It was in this "Change of Venue Case," that Judge Bridges was crowned with glory and distinction. In honor of his brilliancy, a painting was made of him and hung over the Judges' Seat in the Court House at Herrodsburg, Kentucky.
