PREFACE

THE third volume of Alaska Reports brings the published opinions of the judges of the territory down to January 1, 1910. The index digest herein includes the digest of the cases in this volume and all the appealed cases from Alaska in the Federal Reporter from volume 143 to volume 175, both inclusive, as well as those from the United States Reports from volume 203 to volume 214, both inclusive, and volumes 27 to 29 Supreme Court Reporter.

Annotations to the Century and Decennial Digests will be found after the syllabi, which afford access to cases in point from all state and federal courts down to 1907, and down to the present time by investigating the subsequent American Digests, Key-Number Series, under the same topic and section number as in the Decennial Digest.

The preparation of this volume has been completed amid my efforts, as Delegate from Alaska, to secure favorable legislation from Congress for the organization of an elective territorial legislative assembly for Alaska.

WASHINGTON, D. C., June 20, 1910.
