T HE farther we proceed in our undertaking, the less occafion do we find to enlarge much on the objects which it has in view, or on the manner in which it is conducted. With regard, however, to the Foreign History, there is one thing which may seem to demand fome particular notice. It may, perhaps, be thought, that we have not gone fo far in our relation of French Affairs as might reasonably have been expected.. But before we proceeded to a diftinct narrative of the late aftonishing Revolution in France, we were defirous of accurately and minutely tracing the steps which led to fo mighty a change in that kingdom.
