FIRST DAY-WEDNESDAY, January 3, 1883.

The Senate was called to order at 12 o'clock м. by Hon. Robt. A. Campbell, Lieutenant-Governor and President of the Senate.

Prayer by Rev. Wm. B. Palmore.

The President appointed F. C. Nesbit and Wm. H. Mayo Secretaries

pro tem.

The President laid before the Senate the following communication from the Secretary of State:

STATE OF MISSOURI, DEPARTMENT OF STATE,
CITY OF JEFFERSON, January 3, 1883.

To the Honorable, the President of the Senate of Missouri:

SIR: As required by law. I have the honor to lay before your honorable body herewith a list of the names of members of the Senate of the State of Missouri, elected at the general election held on the seventh day of November, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, as the same appear from the returns office, and also a list of the members of said Senate holding over.

SENATORS ELECTED TO THE THIRTY-SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF MISSOURI AT THE NOVEMBER ELECTION, 1882.

Senator Jacobs, offered the following resolution, which was read first and second times and adopted:

Resolved, That the Secretary call the Senatorial districts in numerical order, and as they are called, the Senators elect shall advance to the bar of the Senate and present their certificates of election, which certificates shall be read aloud by the Secretary, and, if found to conform to the requirements of the law, and no objection be made, the persons holding them respectively shall be sworn in as members of the Senate.

In pursuance of the foregoing resolution, on call of the roll of Senators elect, the following named Senators came forward, presented their credentials, took and subscribed to the oath of office and took their seats as Senators:

Senators Davis, Edwards of St. Charles, Downing, Halliburton, Britts, Baldwin, Yancey, Bridges, Farris, Oliver, Hathaway, Cresap, Wear and O'Brien.
