The following is a statement of the date of each accident, the place where it occurred, the cause, and the extent of the injuries inflicted upon each person, and the name of such person.

1874.

the rear

October 19. A man named Bass, who was a passenger upon platform of a car going down Second avenue, got off of the car when in motion, ran in front of a team of horses attached to a car coming up the avenue, was knocked down, and before the car could be stopped the front wheel passed over his leg, injuring him severely, so that he died in a few days afterwards.

October 20. A boy named Isaac Charles got upon the front platform of a car going up town, and when he arrived at the place of destination, without giving notice to the driver of the car to stop, he jumped from the car and fell, the front wheel passing over his left leg, rendering amputation necessary.

November 16. A car passing through Worth street to Broadway, was stopped by a man running in front of the team of horses, and falling upon the ground cut his face badly; he sustained no other injuries.

December 21. A woman named Horan in attempting to pass in front of a team of horses, at the corner of Worth and Centre streets, was knocked down, but not seriously injured.

1875. March 23.

Richard Lambert got upon the front platform of a car, while under the influence of liquor, and afer riding some distance his foot slipped and he fell off. The car was stopped immediately, and the front wheel was found resting upon his breast. He was taken out, but life was found to be extinct.

May 27. Thomas Langdon was riding upon the step of an open car, passing through Christie street; a wagon was standing near the track, and Langdon got jammed between the car and wagon, injuring him slightly. June 20. While the conductor of a car was inside, collecting fares from passengers, a woman jumped from the rear platform of the car, without giving any notice, and fell; she appeared to be stunned; afterwards got up and walked off.

August 24. As a car was passing down Chatham street, near Mulberry street, a newsboy ran directly in front of the horses, and before the driver of the car could stop he was knocked down; injuries slight.

August 29. Mary Creighton jumped off of a car before it had come to a stand still, and fell upon the ground; injuries slight.

September 10. A woman requested the conductor of a car to stop it, the bell was rung, and before the car stopped she jumped from the rear platform, injuring herself.

September 29. While the conductor of a car was inside, collecting fares from passengers, some person rang the bell for the car to stop, and before it had stopped a woman fell off of the car, while getting off.
