The following is a statement of the date of each accident, the place where it occurred, the cause and the extent of the injuries inflicted upon each person, and the name of such person.

1874.

November 8. Car No. 102, sixth trip up, in Sullivan street, near Broome street, patrolman Thomas Evers desiring to use the car in pursuit of a thief, who was outrunning him, requested the driver to whip up his horses, at the same time attempted to get on front platform; in doing so his foot slipped and he fell, the front wheel striking his head, killing him instantly.

November 18. Car No. 107, seventh trip up, in Sullivan street, near Spring street, a girl who was playing in the street was knocked down by the horses, receiving very slight injuries.

1875.

January 21. Car No. 71, second trip down, corner Wooster and Canal streets, a gentleman named Lyons jumped from platform of car while in motion, without notifying any person to stop; he fell, fracturing his right arm; recovered.

February 8. Car No. 9, seventh trip down, corner Wooster and Amity street, a man by the name of Curtis, under the influence of liquor, fell from front platform, wheels passing over both feet, severing one and badly crushing the other; since died.

April 9. Car No. 82, third trip up, in Green street, near Eighth, a newsboy, named John McGuire, swung himself backwards off of front platform of car, falling under the wheels, which passed over his body, killing him almost instantly.

June 28. Car No. 4, in Seventh avenue, near Fiftieth street; a passenger, named Connor, jumped from front platform of car, and attempted to get on again; in doing so he slipped and fell, the front wheel passing over his foot; recovered.

September 12. Thomas Owens while intoxicated and lying on the track near Bath, had his leg and arm run over, and died next day. No blame to the engineer.
