CHAP. 971.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Augustin M. Adams. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Augustin M. Adams. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Augustin M. Adams, late of Company H, First Regiment Ohio Volunteer Light Artillery, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Approved, May 31, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Ada Trowbridge, widow of Joseph M. Trowbridge, late captain, Sixteenth Regiment United States Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Elbert N. Remson. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Elbert N. Remson, late of Company F, Ninetieth Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty-four dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Presley P. Medlin, late acting assistant and contract surgeon, United States Army, and pay him a pension at the rate of seventeen dollars per month.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Charles Haltenhof. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension

laws, the name of Charles Haltenhof, late of Company H, First Regiment Ohio Volunteers, war with Mexico, and pay him a pension at the rate of twenty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Approved, May 31, 1902.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United [Private, No. 843.] States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Jeremiah Horan, late of Company A, First Regiment United States Infantry, war with Spain, and pay him a pension at the rate of twelve dollars per month.

CHAP. 978.-An Act Granting a pension to Hannah T. Knowles.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Hannah T. Knowles, widow of William M. Knowles, late of the United States ship Independence, war with Mexico, and pay her a pension at the rate of eight dollars per month, such pension to cease upon proof that the soldier is living.

Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Samantha B. Van Brocklin, widow of George S. Van Brocklin, late of Company C, Fiftieth Regiment New York Volunteer Engineers, and pay her a pension at the rate of eight dollars per month.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Adelbert L. Orr, late a private, unassigned, Maine Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of seventy-two dollars per month, the same to be paid to him under the rules of the No deductions, etc. Pension Bureau as to mode and times of payment, without any deduction or rebate on account of former alleged overpayments or erroneous payments of pension.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Chamblin, Delaney States of America in Congress assembled, That the Light-House Board be, and it is hereby, authorized to pay to Messrs. Chamblin, Delaney and Scott, of the city of Richmond, State of Virginia, the sum of one thousand seven hundred and four dollars and forty-six cents out of the appropriation for Marblehead light-house made by the Fifty-third Congress.

Baldwin, late second lieutenant Company E, Fourteenth Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving, to be paid to his legally constituted guardian. CHAP. 994.-An Act Granting an increase of pension to Warren Y. Merchant. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Warren Y. Merchant, late of Company L, First Regiment Iowa Volunteer Cavalry, and pay him a pension at the rate of thirty dollars per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. Approved, June 4, 1902.
